I use the old Vendio platform to list items onto eBay. Part of the old platform offering is the Vendio Store. At one time, the Vendio store was a major part of my eBay sales. Whether hidden behind the images, or with a link from the item description, the store was always there.

The Vendio store generated many, many sales and has been a good friend. Always there in the morning when I began the day, offering my items, 24/7 with hardly any problems, and there at night, when I closed for the evening.

The store really produced well, when coupled with Yahoo and Google paid advertising. Unfortunately, the old Vendio store could not keep up with the changes in eBay, internet shopping, and the growth of my product line.

Lately, with my diminished presence on eBay, and a shift in emphasis away from multi-channel selling, the Vendio store has been relegated to offering catalogs, and stamp collecting supplies.

This weekend marks the closing of my Vendio store and a further step away from eBay and into the future.

Farewell to an old friend ...

Sorry to hear that, Bill. For the longest time, you've been the major cheerleader of Vendio stores. I remember when you were so excited by the unveiling of Vendio's "new" platform, assuming, like the rest of us, that the new features would trickle down to the legacy users who foot the bulk of Vendio's bills.

I pulled the plug on one of my vendio accounts. This acct I have one foot through the door. I'll make sure the door doesn't hit me in the... on my way out.

Too bad Vendio couldn't get their act together and integrate the new store system with the old one. I tried setting up the new one, and it is slow and confusing... and I'm a bit disgruntled that I have to reinvent the wheel.

Good software doesn't reinvent the wheel. Obviously, Vendio made a gamble that didn't pay off for me... and them.

Strange thing is how Vendio did nothing to develop a stand alone e-commerce system/shopping cart.
It is the most natural cross-sell for its eBay/Amazon users as they, like you, progress to their own site.
The Vendio shops do not qualify as a shopping cart unless you're thinking 1995.
As a matter of fact, they have managed to do less with more than practically any other site other than eBay itself.
Perhaps they became what they beheld.
