The Ways:
1. Sell similar item in store or as FP that was originally listed as an auction item and forget to change the duration from 7 to 30 days or until cancelled.
2. Use sell similar item as a listing tool and change the category (to attract more buyers) and the first category had FREE Gallery Plus, second does not, if you are in a hurry or on auto pilot like I seem to be lately, you get charged $1.00 for Gallery Plus if you so not unclick the button for this option.
Can anyone add to this list of ways we can be overcharged because we are in a hurry. Funny, the options never seem to favor the sellers!!

did you look at how much they are going to charge you before you hit enter on the last page?

hwahwa, yes I did, that is how I caught the Gallery Plus one, but there is no difference in price when you forget to change 7 days to 30 days.

I used Sell similiar and in the listing I was copying I had used the International Exposure which was free for a few days.
When I filled in the details for the new Store listing I forgot to 'uncheck' the International box and did not notice it.

Can't you still go in and change to Good Till Closed?
I've had this happen and didn't even notice it until the listing ended.

ladyjewels, you can change it if you notice it right away. I have changed it before, but this time I didn't realize until the items ended and I said WTF... I just listed those items in my store!!
Even if you do not do List a Similar Item, the stuff you had in from the previous item is what appears in your new listing until you change it. If you are in a hurry, like I was attempting to list a lot of things for the holidays you go on auto pilot and skip to the bottom.
My advice is just to check everything before you push the button to list. That includes shipping costs, BIN, length of listing, start time, etc.

I have used bulk relisting and noticed several issues with it. For one thing, sometimes it changes my settings.
I have free shipping. All of a sudden, half of my items were charging for shipping after I relisted them.
I have also noticed quantities changed. For example, I had a buyer change his mind on the size of an item. I corrected my inventory available during the FP listing. When the listing ended and I attempted to relist, it automatically reverted back to the old quantity. Such a nice thing to happen when a buyer gets the last one but it isn't available.
FYI: I complained about #2 on your list merrie about 5 months ago. They assured me they would fix it.
My issue was with bulk relisting. If I was relisting 20 items, 18 or 19 that were in collectibles, they include free gallery... but if one or two items in the batch are from a different category... it auto sets that one or two listings to include the gallery image, hence charging that outrageous fee. If you're not paying attention because you have a large batch, you will get charged for it. What is worse is that when you click to relist and it gives you the fee total, you can go back and correct it... BUT you have to correct ALL of them again. Not just the one that may be incorrect.

shagmidmod:Ebay promises a lot of things, but...
I also have trouble listing a handling fee when I am doing calculated shipping. It will not come up unless I turn off my computer and start over. This is a new computer with lots of memory, but this will not come up many times after I have done several listings and if I do not notice it, I am out the handling fee.

I had relisted an item that had 14.50 listed for shipping on the original listing, when I hit relist the item came up as free shipping.
This I didn't know until it sold because I had so many autions running that I didn't check each auction to see if everything was correct, I just figured it would relist the same way it was originally listed, wrong.
When it sold I had to explain to the buyer that ebay had made a mistake when relisting was done they put Free shipping instead of the cost of shipping.
Well she was not happy and didn't want to buy the item and pay shipping so she gave me a Neutral FB, guess I should be happy she didn't give me a Neg,
The item sold for 9.99 (true value of this item if you went to a store to buy it was 35.00)if i paid shipping I would have been giving her the item for free and paying out of my pocket for her to have it.

Always amazes me how buyers think that you can ship a huge item for free when they only pay $10 for it. I did do that one time and it was the last time that i do it. I had started an item at 99 cents and it sold for $8.00 the free shipping was a mistake but since it had several bids i left it thinking that it would go higher, well it did not and i lost my pants on that deal because the item cost me $65 from my supplier in europe, then i paid someone to take it off my hands. because once i paid ebay, paypal and shipping i was in the hole big time. .99c auctions have NEVER worked for me EVER!!!!..... And free shipping only benefits the buyer and ebay because they get to charge you for every penny of that sold item including shipping cost.

The Ways:
# 5,6, or who knows.
I had an store item pulled because I inadvertently used a stock picture. The picture was sent to me from my supplier prior to the item being released and I filed it for future reference. When I bought the item and listed it, I took my own pictures but accidentally used the stock picture, also. So, I was wrong, but here is the kicker. The store item had a quantity of 4, 2 were sold, one was paid for. But, now the item is erased, gone, puff!! The buyer that bought and paid for one of the items got a notice from Ebay that the item was removed, etc. She wrote me concerned, I told her the item had shipped. The other person will probably not pay for the item and I guess I have no way of getting back my FVF.
I have relisted the items without the offending picture, but it is really annoying that Ebay would cancel purchases already made.It is not like it is counterfeit or a forbidden item.
I guess the one buyer and I cannot leave feedback, also. This is a first for me.

#7, when you list an item or relist or sell similar and do calculated shipping, even if you always have a handling fee, the handling fee goes back to 0 and you have to change it. How come all of the defaults favor Ebay??

because EBAY owns the venue !
May be you should consider a store where you can leave your stuff there without constantly relisting.
I see you do have a store, may be like Bill, have your own website and use Google to drive traffic.
Ebay is too big,too many rules and too much competition.
I dont buy much on Ebay, who has time to read all these rules ,each seller has her/his own rules, and everytime you browse an item, you have to check the rules.

I have found myself buying more from Amazon than on eBay because the cost is higher and the rules.
eBay continues to shoot itself in the foot. if you sell a brand new item in a sealed box, apparently ebay expects you to still open the box to photograph it.
at the same time, ebay offers discounts or a promo to sellers who allow ebay to use their photos as stock photos for other sellers. go figure.

There are some sellers who have that machine to shrinkwrap an item, like a book or a box .
Unless you buy it direct from the manufacturer or a reputable reseller like Bestbuy, you dont really know if an item shrinkwrapped or never open is really new.
Once I bought a new easyjack from a seller,it does not work and she knows little about easy jack, just found it in a yardsale,so she has to rely on my honesty to tell her it does not work so she can send me another one found from the same yardsale!
