Would love to use FedEx but it is 10 miles across town so probably not cheaper for me. But great for you who can use it! A glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

UPS rates should be negotiable. I think UPS rates are very expensive. Fed Ex standard rates are much less than UPS. I negotiated my own rates through a FE sales rep. UPS simply cannot touch my rates. I had only one issue with a shipment via FE and they took care of it promptly. On the other hand, I shipped via UPS many years ago. They left an acoustic guitar on someones porch in the dead of Connecticut winter (even though a signature was required). It sat outside in 20 degree weather for half the day and cracked the bridge. UPS tried to claim it wasn't packed properly. Guitar was in a hardshell case within a box that met their required 2 inches on all sides. They shipped it back to me, had an inspector come and deny the claim. I appealed twice and it finally went to a mediator who cut through the UPS BS right away. UPS had to pay to fix it. I never shipped with UPS again.

Anyone can get a discount off USPS published rates -- all you have to do is sign up with a shipping consolidator. Like the name implies, they consolidate your USPS packages with others so that the total qualifies for much lower rates.
The catch, of course, is that you have to be shipping a certain volume each day. But if you are, even a 10 cent per pkg savings really adds up.
Little guys, like most of you and like me, are always going to pay close to retail rates because it's not worth their time to deal with us.

Is Vendio ready for the change in postage rates. Will the increase be reflected in the calculated shipping costs on the 2nd?
