I would have used a smaller box (maybe flat rate?) and more tape. In addition I always tape the label on even if I use peel and stick labels, as they can occasionally come off.

I agree, I always tape completely around both ways, and any unsealed edges. They can get caught in machines.If a smaller size box is not available, I would also fill the open space with something like crumpled paper to stop the contents banging around inside.

That is what I thought upon hearing the envelopes flop around in the box, which was too large, with no fill in it, and poorly taped.
