This may be a silly question after all this time, but is the only photo that must comply to the new size regulations, the gallery photo? Can the embedded photos be smaller or do they have to be just as large?

I don't think it's silly at all - in fact I was wondering the same thing.

I hope it is the case that the gallery photo is the only one that needs to comply. It would make editing much faster.

Hello,
If you use HTML code to embed the images directly into your item description area, and they aren't copied into the image picture hosting section where they would then show at the top left portion of the item details page - then eBay doesn't even know they exist and therefor wouldn't be subject to the new policies.
They will however look at the dimensions of every photo uploaded for a listing, not just the gallery image, before accepting it and displaying it in their own image sections.
Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Thank you for taking the time to review my question. However, since I am not very computer savvy, I don't quite understand the answer.
We use the old Sony Mavica and embed our photos in the description. It has been difficult to comply to the new Ebay photo regulations, but our photos are small but acceptable according to Ebay.
If one or more of our embedded photos are too small, does this mean Ebay will not accept our listing?
Is there anything Vendio has planned to help us comply with the new photo regulations?

Hello,
Note that we have added a new optional column in your image hosting pages - dimensions. You can now view and even sort your images by their dimensions - which should help track down images that need to be 'upgraded' in eBay's eyes.

Chris

Thank you so much for the new dimensions column on the image hosting pages.
This optional column is so convenient for us to know if our photos will comply with eBay's new rules.

So any photos not correct for ebay's policy will be in the extra column. Again I'm confused it the first photo for the auction or the upper left hand one is too small are the others in my description okay? Also I understand they have to be 500 pixels in width. What happen to the keep them at 50kb? Does that mean making my photos bigger will mean more space on image hosting and eventually a bigger charge. Is ebay trying to make other photo storing image services go out of business? I always was very happy with my images the way they were but with that enlargement feature they need bigger orinal photos I guess. Thanks for the help.
