Does the buyer see the rate prior to bidding?
I just had my 1st one and I'm still not sure how it works. The buyer hasn't paid yet.
I was going to ship the item 1st class but it looks like ebay is charging for priority.
It looks like the buyer will pay ebay for the shipping and duties prior to my shipping it?
Does ebay provide me with a label?
Do I have to do the label online or is there a way to take it to the post office?

Hi there.

Basically, all you need to do is ship the item to the address in Kentucky the same as you would any other USA purchase. If you charge for USA shipping, then you likely were paid for shipping based on shipping within the USA. If you offer free shipping, then you don't get anything from eBay. eBay will charge the buyer for the International shipping costs they incur.

As for ebay knowing which package is which, if you use eBay to print labels they will have the tracking info to identify the package. If you use an outside method, make sure to include the tracking info for the item.

eBay chooses the method of shipment from their center in Kentucky. From my experience, eBay uses USPS Priority shipping for International, likely because it can be tracked.

It pretty much works just like other International forwarding services.

Who owns the Kentucky operations?I am under the impression it belongs to Pitney Bowles, not Ebay.
As for shipping your package by priority mail so it can be trackable- they bundled all the packages for the same destination together in one big carton and ship them by air freight to that country where some local dude will open the carton and ship each individual package,he will decide how to ship each package, usually with local tracking information.
I doubt Pitney bOwles or Ebay is going to ship each package by Intl USPS PRIROITY mail as it would be too costly, and there is no guarantee it is trackable online or signed for.
The only way to always have tracking online and signature is to use USPS global express guarantee(which is turned over to Fed Exp Intl) or UPS INTL OR DHL or Fed Exp,all are expensive

Thanks Shag
I got the payment and the first thing I saw was Kentucky. I just figured he moved to the states. lol
I hope I can do the label online. We're at our 2nd home and my printer ink is running really really low. I have to drive 45 miles to get more printer ink.

toner or ink?

I quit using ink jet printers about 8 years ago. About 3 years ago I bought an ink jet all-in-one from Lexmark that touted $5 OEM ink cartridges that did 500 pages for our business.
I thought I found the perfect balance, but soon discovered the scam.

First off, the black cartridges are $5.00 each, but the color ones are $15 each. Our business rarely did color printing, so our ink dried up. Then we discovered that the printer wouldn't function without color ink in it even if we were only doing black and white printing.

Needless to say we sold it within a few months. Oddly enough we sold it for more than we paid and now only use laser printers.

Our Brother all-in one gets a new toner cartridge about every year or so. It last about 3000 pages. Cost is about $45 for a cartridge. The best is not having to worry about ink drying out and having to replenish cartridges every month or so.

When we need color printing we go to Kinkos when we drop off our Fed Ex packages.

It's amazing how Printers are the one thing that has dropped dramatically in price over the years.
Before I retired I needed to do a huge amount of printing on a daily basis. I always swore by HP Deskjet Printers as they were real workhorses. I had two over a period of about 10 years and black cartridges were $39.95 and the Colour cartridge was about $59.95.

When HP introduced their first all-in-one I bought one and are you ready for the price....$699. It was also HUGE. I was thrilled I was going to be able to scan, print & Fax with it so I would be able to ditch my flat bed scanner & old Fax machine. I was also able to write off the cost as I was self-employed.
I used it for less than a month and found it didn't do any of the jobs well so I continued to use my old equipment & put my big machine in my storage unit. Several years later I sold it for $30!
Just yesterday we were in our new Target Store here and they had several all-in-one machines for between $50-$60.

Sorry ebabes I sidetracked your issue..there have been quite a number of discussions on eBay Canada Boards about Global shipping and many buyers in Canada are refusing to buy from any Seller using Global Shipping for several reasons:-
1. Nothing can be sent by First Class Mail so the actual shipping cost is very high especially for a small item.
2. The Import Duty has nothing to do with REAL Import duties as nothing under $20 is taxable when it arrives in Canada nor is Duty payable on small amounts so but we would still be required to pay it....ask yourself..into whose pocket does that 'Import Fee' go?
I have over the past few months posted here a few examples of outrageous costs to buy a small (under $10 ) item.
If you are selling a higher priced item then it is different and may be advantageous to the Seller and possibly the Buyer.

Yeah I still use a HP Deskjet Printer as well. I now have 2 - one at home and one here. I got this one at a garage sale free.
I went in and changed my printer from color to black and the labels look OK now.

Yeah this item could have gone 1st class but it did sell for $80. Not that much but too much to have to give back if he said it didn't arrive.
