Here is the real face of fraud. I got a notification of a charge-back by pay pal for 182.03 (by a buyer's credit card company) for an "unauthorized charge". I called paypal and provided delivery confirmation of the order. Further, I told them that the person had LEFT POSITIVE FEEDBACK for all 7 transactions.
Paypal said that they will fight the charge for me, but they wont tell me what credit card issuer it was, and any details. They implied that I was not going to be back-charged because I had tracking and it showed to the proper address, and it was delivered. They say the feedback meant nothing?????, that anyone could have left bad feedback. I said "a fraud would leave good feedback?!?!?. Bullship
Further information shows that the buyer has been removed from using ebay and is "no longer an ebay user".
Apparently he is pissed at Ebay/Paypal for some reason and this is a prime example how sellers get "F***" because of ebay and their problems. We are "collateral damage" to ebay.

I will keep you all updated on this, but has anyone else have any comments or experiences like this?
and they (ebay) cover it up.......

What was the reason for the chargeback?

Item Not Received? Item Not As Described? Fraudulent Purchase?

Other info is needed.

The reason as he told us is 'unauthorised charge'.which means someone has used his credit card without his approval.
The fact that this buyer of yours is no longer registered with Ebay means he is a fraudster.
Bad news for you,Paypal seller protection does not cover fraudulent use of credit card, see what Ebay has to say?
Feed back means nothing if he is a fraudster and no longer registered with Ebay.
Your only recourse would be mail fraud and police report and FBI and local police,if he is still living at the address you shipped to.

he was trying to prove "unauthorized use of a credit card". Very unspecific.

Does this buyer of yours have a confirmed address? Is his paypal account verified?
What else did he buy on Ebay, anything over $250?
If you have your own merchant account, you can get more information from your bank, but now you are working thru Paypal, the chargeback is actually against Paypal and they dont have to pass any more information to you.
Why dont you try calling your buyer and speak to him,if he were the frauster,he wont come to the phone but if he is the real owner, would be interested to see if he will tell you anything worthwhile.

Hmmm, might not be a bad idea. See why he is trying to pull something he knows is wrong.
I do have his address. Maybe I should give him a jingle, ask him why he is doing what he is doing.

I guess I still don't understand why he is trying to screw me over, but as I stated earlier, he seems to have it pointed at pay pal and ebay itself.

Since he is no longer a user, I have some latitude that normally I don't have.

Was the address confirmed by Paypal?

I would file charges with the FBI internet crime site if you can't get it resolved by calling them. Let them know you have forwarded it to the FBI because it was sold over state lines which makes it a Federal crime.

Also USPS fraud investigation, this is mail fraud.
But nothing ever comes out of it,I have a woman who issued a bad check and I reported her, nothing happens.

Contacting the local police may be more effective than FBI or USPS,if he is still living in the area!
Just let him know you will be contacting the police in his area.

got this email from paypal yesterday.

As you know, we were recently notified that one of your buyers filed achargeback with their card issuer. One of the unique benefits of usingPayPal is that we help you fight unwarranted chargebacks and attempt torecover your funds. Usually the funds associated with a chargeback are temporarily held untilthe card issuer makes its decision. Because you followed the guidelines of the seller protection policy, though, PayPal will cover the amount of the chargeback.

So they are protecting me and know this clown is a fraud.

good for you.
Sometimes I wonder how can Paypal and Ebay allow someone to register and go on a buying binge with other people credit card and not offer seller protection?
this is where we need protection most, since we are not there to review his application and check his credit card?Ebay and Paypal do.
