More new rules, sigh...
"Millions of buyers come to eBay every day, in search of great deals available only on eBay. And for many sellers様ike those without an eBay Stores subscription預uction-style listings are the best way to sell in popular categories like Fashion and Collectibles & Art. To keep our buyers engaged, and to help ensure that new sellers and those who sell occasionally have the best opportunity to succeed, we will be making some updates to the standard fee structure (fees for sellers without an eBay Stores subscription). The following changes will take effect on May 15, 2014 at 00:01 AM PT:
If you do not subscribe to an eBay Store, you値l enjoy up to 100 FREE listings*用ay no insertion fees容very month.
50 of these will be dedicated auction-style listings, which can be used only in the categories listed below. There will no longer be an allotment of free fixed price listings for items listed in these 14 categories, unless you subscribe to an eBay Store.
You値l also receive 50 free listings* which can either be additional auction-style listings in the categories listed below, or auction-style or fixed price listings in most other categories.

I was just thinking those good sellers with good inventory subsidize the new sellers and the cheap sellers,
It costs the same for Ebay to host a 99 cents item versus a 99 dollars items, and who is paying higher FVF,who is paying Ebay bills??
If they dont rein in the free listings, there wil be more junks to go thru to find what you are looking for?
If a seller has good items ,why cant she be paying for the listing fee, when the item sells, she makes money, listing fee is nothing .

lost, the irony is when they offer free listings, it makes more sense to list a $99 item since normal listing fees are much higher than to list a .99 item.
The free listings have encouraged me to list an item at an appropriately high enough price to make a profit rather than staring at a lower price to save listing fees and hope for the best.

Merrie, you would think that everyone would get that. The sad part is that they don't. They hear free and think "this is a good time to get rid of some junk". It's the ebay's "clean out your closet" mentality. I guess the ads are working for them but I cringe every time I hear the commercial.

Merrie,
if a good seller has to rely on free listing to sell and make a decent profit, then the blame is on the venue provider!
In my Ebay shop,it only cost me 5 cents to keep an item for 30 days, and one year it is only 60 cents,of course there is the store fee,but it works well,I am in no hurry to sell my items cheap.
If my item is sold after 1 year, the listing fee is only 60 cents,I can handle that.

Shag,
Selling on Ebay is stressful,I am selling down what I have and probably will stop selling after that.
I still have books on AMZN,it may take years to sell all of them, and I dont have that many books.

Lost, no one said anything about having to "rely" on free listings. The point is to make the best use of them when they are offered which is quite often.
