I am spoiled, I have central air - or I should say I -had- centeral air. Last night the outside motor died - it was 80 inside, 80+ outside with almost 80% humidity. Since I don't deal well with heat and humidity, I think I would be perfectly happy moving to Alaska.
So I am off work today, waiting for the repair person and listing eBay auctions - and I am really not in the mood to take pictures and list.

On the gulf coast air conditioning is not considered a luxury. It is miserable without it, hot, sticky, and very uncomfortable.
Don't go to Alaska though. You need to remember the difference, hot is uncomfortable but cold hurts.

You could sure give me the cold...I prefer being cold to being hot. I don't have central air in my house (In this area it's not that prevalent as it's not a 'hot' climate) and it stays pretty cool downstairs. But, upstairs I have this huge room that is my office and, on a hot day, it gets sooooo hot up here! So I get a lot of exercise going up & down the stairs so I can spend some time downstairs to cool off. Guess there's something good about the heat, eh?

Yah, MB, glad you're cool again! Yeah, I know, husbands don't seem to be very understanding about those things...whatever!

I prefer being cool to hot, but cold... brrrrrr. Wake up some morning with your drink on your nightstand frozen... and then face the fact you've got to go out to the outhouse and do the deed. I have. Getting out from under those covers is something you delay as long as you can.
The coldest weather I've ever experienced was -67F near Deadhorse, Alaska. The hottest I've ever experienced was 112F near Yakima, Washington. 112F was downright pleasant by comparison. Those aren't windchill or heat index figures.

The hottest I've lived was the summer of '72 in a horrible little town in the Sacramento Valley when it would get up to 125F during the day...Didn't really even get much below 100F at night. Mosquitos you could barely see through. Man, what a horrible memory!
pleasant thoughts...pleasant thoughts...I'm ok now!
