can someone please tell me what a snipe is, i talked to a seller and asked her why i never win anything, and she told me i had been sniped..and that it happens all the time...what is it, and how can i deal with it..thanks, joanfl.

a snipe(r) is someone who waits for the very last seconds before an auction ends to place a bid, knowing that it would be virtually impossible for someone else to bid after them. some consider this unethical but it is a very common event. you are not bidding high enough if you are constantly losing auctions this way.

I thought it was a bird. We used to take young kids snipe hunting.
