Recent news articles have been discussing the proposed withdrawal of approx. 70,000 troops along with approx. 100,000 of their family members from places like Germany, where I believe 1/2 the current troop force there will be withdrawn.
Anyone interested in sharing if they agree with this proposal or are you against it? Why do you, or don't you think it's a good idea?
Would you support even MORE troops being brought home?

It appears that it is more a reassignment than a "withdrawal". While there are hints that some will be assigned to US bases, others will be stationed closer to "conflict areas". I'd need a whole lot more specific information before taking a position about it. How many will come home? How many will go someplace else and where to?
I do know that our troop positions overall haven't changed much since WWII. That doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, since Europe is about as safe and stable as this country. If I'm not mistaken it was President Clinton who began the current repositioning study.

My undersanding, fromreading the news, is that of Prof's. Most aren't going to be coming home--just reassigned. I'd be willing to bet that many find themselves in Iraq or Afghanistan.
As forwhether they should be withdrawn from where they are now: I feel it's about time.
