Just found out Greta Van Susteran and her husband (didn't even know she was married) have bought a 3 million dollar waterfront estate nearby - haven't heard where yet.

Also we have Rumsfeld and Cheney in our neighboring county - Talbot - in St. Michael's. Haven't seen them yet, but they often go out to dinner in St. Michael's or Easton.

I did have Rumsfeld as a customer when I was the Business Manager for a cable company here - he has a corporation that pays all his bills - I guess that's how the rich and famous deal with the simple things like utilities.

I know what you mean about bringing down the neiborhood.

I got colored's living across the road.

They keep complaining that I'm bringing down the neiborhood.

Heard that's what the whole state of Wisconsin said about you.....dingo.

I gave my liberal neighbors son a book for his birthday. He went crazy trying to find where to put the batteries.

Two rules about rich people - if they're normal and nice, they've come from old money. If they're snobby and talk about money, it's newly aquired.

Yes, if they are always bragging about their genius IQ and their neighbors they are really dumb and insecure.

You're so right Helen. And I should know - with an IQ of 135 and money in the bank, I can easily tell who's who.

Mingo, Van Susteran (Fox News) is another one of those lawyer man/chicks like Ann Coulter. She also has an adam's apple and gorilla hands but doesn't look as steroid-ridden as Coulter. I would say she's a better than average reporter, but not by much.

OH MY GAWD!

A REPORTER right IN the NEIGHBORHOOD!

NO!

They live in houses? In NEIGHBORHOODS?
Well, I will certainly look at Caro in a new light NOW!

Nice to see one of God's servants is a racist.

Easton? Up 13? That Easton?...that is one poor ratty torn down town. At least the view from route 13. And all those Indian named towns neighboring it look real poor too. Maybe ya have to drive deep into the woods to see the million dollar homes?

LOL!

I guess a more diplomatic way to describe it is "quaint" but your description is the truth!

Well - there are Washington people nd all the names have an Indian background so it must be south Maryland or North Virginia. Since Helen is in on the location, I'm thinking Maryland.

I was right...Easton, Maryland, "the 8th Best Small Town in America" is an arts and cultural center with a population of over 11,000 individuals who love living in a small town that offers the best of many worlds: access to large metropolitan areas like Baltimore, Annapolis, Washington, and Wilmington; good health care from a strong local hospital and medical community; casual and gourmet dining; shopping for all budgets from collectibles to fine antiques; eclectic art galleries; numerous public golf courses; the splendid Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries in their backyard for sailing, canoeing, kayaking, and crabbing; an historic Town Center with Colonial and Victorian architecture; and an active local community that welcomes new ideas and enthusiasm.

Helen - I am going to date my eastt coast residency here but... did they ever complete the Kepone cleanup of the Bay and get it all opened back up?

Helen, you can see there was 'quaintness' to it at one time. But now, all those little antique shops seem so weatherworn and neglected. Always reminded me of a Springsteen song - the dried out farms, the paint peeling boarded-up buildings. You know, those sure signs of economic decay ya cant miss....

You nailed it, Dbl!

Fenix, that cleanup started in 1975, I think-- and continued for about ten years. For awhile fishing was banned in the James River area. Now, the situation is much better but pesticides and toxins are still a problem. The Potomac River, which runs through Washington D.C. to the bay is especially polluted. We used to swim and water ski near the bay in the Severn and South rivers and never had a problem with pollution but I wouldn't want to ride in an open boat on the Potomac!

I was there when everything broke. I remember the ban on shell fish plus the fishing and they also canceled "The Great James River Raft Race for a couple years which was a blast event we used to go to all the time. When I left they were saying it could take decades to complete the clean-up and detox the Bay. I never did all the water sports but used to have a great time tossing out crab pots in the morning, playing around all day on the water then having a bake in the evening.

I really love being around the water and if I wasn't married to a landlubber, I would like to live on a boat. We used to anchor in Annapolis Harbor near the Naval academy and spend the weekend. It's a fabulous place with good food and always something going on that's fun.

Helen-you might be familar with this area.I was in the Navy in the mid-60's.This was my first duty station in Annapolis,MD. I was stationed at the U.S.Naval Radio Station just outside Annapolis.I took this pic early one spring morning. If you are familar with the area, you can see the Bay Bridge where the sun is, in the background. I used to drive over that bridge quite often to go home on liberty-rt 50 I thnk it was.I would then get on rt 13 in Deleware which would take me to the Deleware Memorial Bridge into New Jersey.A couple of times in June and July I stayed on rt 50 and went to Ocean City,Md.If you have ever driven over the Bay Bridge going toward Annapolis, you could see tall radio towers, thats where I was.One place we went to quite often in Annapolis was a pizza joint that had saw dust all over the floor but I cant remember the name of it,or if it still exists.

Thanks for posting that photo, Classic!!!

We used to anchor our boat to the right of this photo near the Annapolis Yacht Club. You are probably familiar with Ego Alley where the boaters enjoy flaunting their boats etc. We anchored and either took the water taxi or our dingy to shore. I've been over and under that bridge many times too. It's really a small world!

Great Photo!

NTS,

I did see the second part of Colin's post and I still think it is quite crude of him to use the word that he did.

He claims he is a Reverand - a servant of God - when was the last time you heard a servant of God use that word.
