...the s#!t would hit the fan!

I heard an excerpt from a speech today made by the mayor of New Orleans. In it, he called for the rebuilt New Orleans to be a "chocolate city!"

I gotta say, if someone was to stand up and say that they wanted their city to be all white (or even all yellow, red or brown) there would be such an outcry of "racist" that the speaker would probably be flattened by the sound waves. I found the quote online so I could post it here:

http://www.heraldnewsdaily.com/stories/news-00125587.html

"It‘s time for us to come together. It‘s time for us to rebuild New Orleans — the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans," the mayor said. "This city will be a majority African American city. It‘s the way God wants it to be. You can‘t have New Orleans no other way. It wouldn‘t be New Orleans."

"It‘s the way God wants it to be."

So the next time a hurricane hits and destroys the city, the mayor can blame someone higher than George Bush.

Yes, why is racism OK when it comes from black people?

I would certainly call that racist. I don't think for a minute that he meant that whites and blacks come together in white milk and dark chocolate to make a choclate drink. How stupid an analagy.
This guy needs to be ousted. What a crock of crap. He offended the blacks last week now he is back peddling.

Sorry Bunni, I read Ontario CA.. thought you lived up there with Krafty..

Oh. Yeah, people forget all the time that there is more than one Ontario! And the fact that California and Canada have the same abbreviation makes it all the harder...

Nagin has been an embarassment to NO since day 1 of Katrina and continues to be so. How the people voted that person into office is amazing.

Why is there no recall being shouted?

back on topic....

Maggie correct me if I am wrong.

I heard sometime back that Nagin wanted to postpone the New Orleans city elections, including the post of mayor. I don't recall the proposed date but I believe the elections are slated for sometime this spring.

He stated the city was too devestated to hold fair elections and allow all the citizens a chance to vote.

I'll see if I can find something online to post a link.

http://www.sec.state.la.us/elections/elections-index.htm

ORLEANS PARISH ELECTIONS DELAYED
(1-9-06) - The Orleans Parish elections scheduled for February 4, 2006 and March 4, 2006 have been delayed by Governor Blanco's Executive Order KBB 2005-96, due to the state of emergency that exists after Hurricane Katrina. Secretary of State Al Ater, together with local and state elections officials and the legislature are working to reschedule these elections as soon as possible. The deadlines for calling special elections, for filing propositions, and for qualifying to run for elective office have also been delayed and will be rescheduled.

...and of course there are lawsuits already filed to overturn the gov's executive order. Secretary of State Al Ater, is saying a delay of no later than September 2006 for the election is forseen.

And it's NEVER has been the other way around HAS it , Maggie. ???

Maybe he wants to wait until all the people have HOMES DUH!

The FEMA trailers still haven't arrived...some areas look just like they did right after the water went down. Those people were abandoned by this cesspool of an administration and now the self-righteous are giving their "wise" views on the "correct" actions they should take.

Have any of you heard of a guy named Martin Luther King, Jr.?
Does it ring a bell in those empty brain chambers ?

""And then there is FEMA, in my opinion a government agency that aids and abets the crooks and hard core welfare bums, and does very little for the honest, insurance paying, hard working, home owners.""

Yup, Maggie, FEMA, run by the good buddies of your honey Bush...the guy whose only problem according to you is being a lousy public speaker

""As far as waiting for his constituents to have homes to return to...what homes? The thousands of welfare apartments they lived in?""

So you think they shouldn't be able to vote if they lived in "welfare" apartments???

OR

You think they can't call them homes because they're poor?

OR

You think they should live in tents in the mud?

OR

you think the government should get off it's worthlessass and help give AMERICAN citizens a place to live so we don't look quite so much like a Third World country???

Maggie the linda clone....so I'm "twisting" your words just like everyone did to linda???

You didn't address ONE point(linda-like).

Accuses me of saying things I never said.....

""I'm sick and tired of the attitude of let's keep the poor blacks comfortable in their poor blackness."" (Totally RACIST statement)
""Don't tout how good the Democrat party has been with all their talk of Affirmative action either, it's just throwing a bone once in a while to the starving. As far as allowing the poor back to continue on with their long learned and long lived welfare way of life down here, I'd rather risk sound like""" (SOUND LIKE????) YOU ARE!)
"""a bigot and say Hell No, why keep them on the plantation because that's just what you do when you don't force them to take a more productive lifestyle."""

Where did I say any of that? I didn't and like linda you can't prove it.

""force them to take a more productive lifestyle""

Like YOURS ??????
