Cheney and Reid Clash Over Iraq Policy
Bush Vows to Veto Democratic Withdrawal Legislation

WASHINGTON (April 24) - Vice President Dick Cheney accused Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Tuesday of pursuing a defeatist strategy in Iraq to win votes in the next election - a charge Reid said did not warrant a response.
The two sparred hours after President Bush said he will veto the latest war spending bill taking shape in Congress , which includes a timetable for withdrawing from Iraq.
Cheney, after attending the weekly Republican policy lunch on Capitol Hill, lashed out at Reid. "Some Democratic leaders seem to believe that blind opposition to the new strategy in Iraq is good politics," Cheney said. "Sen. Reid himself has said that the war in Iraq will bring his party more seats in the next election.
"It is cynical to declare that the war is lost because you believe it gives you political advantage," Cheney said.
Reid, D-Nev., dismissed Cheney's remarks later to reporters, but not before getting in his own dig at the vice president.
"I'm not going to get into a name calling match with the administration's chief attack dog," Reid said.

You are right Reid is a light weight in name calling compared to new-con republicans like Cheney and DeLay before he goes to jail.
Not too long ago Cheney told a U.S. Senator to "F" himself.
desquirrel, facts are the majority of Americans have put your kind in a political minority and plan to keep your kind in a political minority.
I for one will do everything I can to keep your kind from hurting the working and middle class American more. Millions of us are coming after your kind by further stripping your kind of even more political power in 2008.

The major Republican and Democratic candidates for president officially announced their campaigns in January 2007. The only exception was John Edwards who announced in late December 2006.

Yes I am judging based on those that have already announced, I am basing any decisions on who might decide to run. Until they actually make a decision it is all speculation.

If your candidate waits to the last day, that is his/her choice. That is not the argument you started. You were trying to make a point the Dems started campaigning way to early. I pointed out that the major Dem candidates officially started roughly at the same time as the Republicans.
