....with shame.
Bill Klinton is the ultimate example of a degenerate, shameless, low-life individual. Worse, he erroneously represents the character and morals of the majority of Americans to people of other countries.
I have just viewed a news-photo that turned my stomach. For photo-op reasons only, and in complete indifference to the emotions of all military veterans, the American people, and to the sons of the deceased, the skeletal remains of an American pilot who was shot down in Vietnam during the Vietnam War was put on world display.
Bill Klinton is casually (one hand in his pocket) handling the remains as though he is browsing through a novelty bin examining a bauble made by the natives.
Even worse, in the photo Klinton and Hell-ary are upstaging the sons of the deceased whom (sons) Klinton arranged to take to Vietnam with him (Klinton). One son is barely seen in the photo.
Only an idiot would not be able to conclude that the entire situation and photo-op was arranged before Klinton left for Vietnam. Was not the timing of Klinton's visit coinciding with the discovery of the crash site extraordinary? Was it not a wondrous coincidence that the remains were found and unearthed while Klinton was still in country? Was it not suspiciously great that the trip by the deceased's sons was not wasted?
The sanctity of the situation was forever destroyed for Klinton's legacy pursuit. I wonder how the American pilot felt seeing his remains put on display and his sons relegated to being a bystander?
I have been involved in many stomach-wrenching situations where grievous injury and death were involved. Aside of one incident, I was never as sickened as I was when I saw the photo... and always sickened when I see the Klintons. This most recent episode is so revolting it defies rationalization.
I heard a snippet on CNN, about Clinton congratulating the Viet Cong on their bravery. I didn't get the context. I hope that somehow I misunderstood in a major way. Have you read or heard this?
No I have not. However, considering a guttersnipe like Bill Klinton is the accused party, it would take Christ to (personally} convince me it did not occur.

...with no class........only great fondness for a media event. Where is Miss Manners when she is desperately needed?

Hmmm, interesting but, if true, not surprising. Upon again reading the article, accompanied by a posed AP photo, I see the press is engaging in their typical liberal journalism. The article (is) open-ended and is vulnerable to different interpretations.
If there are no remains present, I am sure the media was disappointed for Klinton as Klinton was for himself. However, it appears the editor realized a way to write the article and leave a percentage of readers mistakenly impressed...excluding yours truly.
Regardless, everything else I said remains the same. Klinton is an excellent poster boy for the boy that cried "Wolf!"

The sons bristled at critics in the U.S. who say Clinton's background as a peace demonstrator who avoided military service made him unfit to visit a site where a hero died in combat.
"I don't like the political part," David Evert said. "For 33 years, we didn't know very much, wondering, worrying. We're just grateful the President had the interest to come out here and get involved."

I say SHAME on anyone including the media critics, political critics and anyone else including posters on this board--for taking an emotional situation such as this and spinning it for their political agenda.

You need more than that little edit Mikey.
This is not about Clinton, the Democrats, the Republicans, who served and who didn't serve.
It is about sons bringing home their father's remains---and the media and all their parrots have soured it. The respect and honour that this pilot deserves at this time has now taken the back seat to the uncontrolable need to voice contempt over a political figure. People need to learn that there is a time for everything---but this is not the time.

Yup Clinton was there preaching the virtues of free markets and personal freedom. Also there, a gaggle of American businessmen seeking investment opportunities in Viet Nam, as the two countries had reached an agreement to liberalise trade earlier this year. (Diplomatic relations with Vietnam were restored by Clinton in 1995, a move supported by John McCain who said it was in America's interest to recognise Vietnam. Mr. McCain, I believe, has some personal experience of Vietnam.)
It's about capitalism, bunky.
(Remember Nixon, the great anti-communist, went to China and the Soviet Union.)
Also don't know if this is accurate but according to the UK Electronic Telegraph (and I've seen it stated elsewhere as well), the US spends about $100 million annually to search for US missing servicemen in Southeast Asia. Vietnam now cooperates with the US on this endeavor as it finds it is in its interests to do so. They need foreign investment and trade to boost their economy.
But simplistic slogans are comforting, aren't they.
