According to a news report Time had decided the winner of the hotly contested election would be man of the year. I guess if Gore had won you could have pointed out that John Paul II was also man of the year at one time.
I've always felt that when someone starts comparing US politicians to Nazis or Hitler they either have no knowledge of Hitler or they tend to be dramatic bordering on the ridiculous. Either way it looks bad on the person making such comparisons.

I noticed Gore didn't even make the runner up list. I'm sure he'll demand a recount. Or, at least claim that it's the doing of the evil Republican party.
Not paranoid anywhere else but here!

Ever watch a movie or TV show with a person who narrates the entire movie or show to you?
Do you know someone who constantly informs you of all of life's events as though you live in a capsule and do not have access to the same information sources?

Ever know a spineless wimperer without the stuff to say anything directly? The sort of person who always expounds "they" or "someone" or "you know who you are"?
Always there to stick out their heads to utter some inane thing then scurry back to the safety of the dark place under their chosen rock?
Have the mealymouthed found a new unifier in GW Bush?

hmm... I must say that I do have the rather eerie feeling of sitting in a theater while Shakespeare's "Chorus" (the narrator) stands at the OP side and tells me what is happening in the play as I'm watching it.

On the other hand, I am finding how deeply and thoroughly I detest CNN. (I watched about a half-hour of Fox News once, by mistake, and needed most of a box of Tagamet to soothe my stomach.)
Therefore, I must say that I'm grateful to krs for condensing the news and editorial opinions, allowing me to click or not, as I choose, and insulating me from those highly irritating Natalie and Lynn persons on CNN.

I agree with you SilkMoth.
I don't surf the Internet much and have appreciated all of the news articles presented by the different posters.
I always considered myself a news junkie, but after a month plus of some of the "journalists" on CNN and MSNBC, I've had it.
During "the mess", I preferred NPR, (National Public Radio, for those who don't know) and the articles linked here at RT.

Maybe this place should have a new title. "They" and "Them" and "Those", versus "Us" and "We" and "Our". TTTUWO for short.

You ladies and gentlemen are a total riot. franny that was funny as hell. But look at the great realization of this every where else in the World they actually physically exchange blows over the various things we debate with words here.
Sort makes you proud to be here doesn't it. If this was Northern Ireland somebody would be throwing rocks at somebody shooting a gun.
If this was the Middle East again somebody would be throwing rocks at somebody shooting a gun.
If this was Rwanda somebody would be throwing rocks running from somebody with a gun trying to hack off limbs.
If this was China half the posters wouldn't be here because they don't have the computer knowledge to be on-line undetected.
Aren't you glad we just hurl bits and bytes of language at one another. At the end of the day hopefully everyone logs off and enjoys a minute or two with their families and friends. And come back the next day to exchange those bits and bytes.

Thats a much shorter title, Irene NPS and PS.
Networker, we are all chasing each other at one time or another with weapons, no matter what kind they are. Bits and Bytes may stab like knives and words will definetly hurt you (as in general 'you').
edited to fix smiley face that didnt belong on the last sentence.

Networker67,
"but words only hurt feelings, generate emotions but at the end of the day no doctor bill. I'll take those words anyday of the week."
Really? Then why did you seem so upset in a certain topic here on AW about a bank?
Words you direct at others might well appear to you to be harmless, possibly because you view posting as some sort of game. But many words, even when not directed at you, tend to raise emotions in you that you carry about continually.
If you expect others to shake of the dust and mud of the days tumble then you ought to expect that of yourself.

And those emotions can lead to physical hurt, networker. Emotions and feelings can generate pain.
Your child, or mother, or spouse says I HATE YOU, and it does not cause pain in your chest? Someone tells you they wish you were dead. No hurt there? No discomfort? Bullhocky.

I always shake the dust and I always give as good as I get. Nothing bothers me short of losing money. Besides I have another opinion on who was really bothered by that thread. I think the "What Makes Us American" Thread helped clear that person's burning trouble with the discussion.
It also served to enlighten the same person about hidden agendas of holding onto meaningless grudges about discussions that have faded into cyber nothingness elsewhere.
