For those of us not lucky enough to live in a tropical paradise, we have made it through the roughtest part of winter I hopeSpring is officially here as of March 20, in New England one never knows when the reality will be.
I don't want to rush my life, but I wish I could just enjoy seeing my first crocus and the beginnings of that sweet spring grass.
I want to get outside and paint some trim on
the house and feel the NEWNESS of the season.
Anyone else have winter wishes???

zilvy - For you I wish lots of sunshine.
Here, in North Central Arkansas our crocus have already bloomed, the grass is about 2/3 green and the buds are starting to form on our trees and bushes....so Spring is here.
Now what I'm looking forward to is late Spring early summer, so I can be out swimming in the lakes. Way too cold right now.
Spring, a time of renewal. Everything is coming alive again. In CA., it was pretty much the same thing all the time. Nice weather, or rain, but we weren't able to enjoy the four seasons and all the beauty they bring.

Yes, LindaK that is one of the advantages of the four seasons anticipation As my heating bill keeps climbing I keep anticipating warmer weather!
edited to say: I was going to say envious, but then I realised I can envision your scene and it is so enjoyable...thanks for sharing.

Thank you Corrdog for sending us the awful truth about the south
Thank you Barry(you are my sunshine)Barris
Sunshine
On my shoulders
Makes me happy,
Sunshine
In my eyes
Can make me cry.
Sunshine
On the water
Looks so lovely,
Sunshine
Almost always
Makes me high.
If I had a day
That I could give you,
I'd give to you
A day just like today.
If I had a song
That I could sing for you,
I'd sing a song
To make you feel this way.
If I had a tale
That I could tell you,
I'd tell a tale sure
To make you smile.
If I had a wish
That I could wish for you,
I'd make a wish
For sunshine all the while.

Some of us in the Seattle area wished for less rain during the winter... and we got it! You might think that's a good thing, but they're starting to talk about drought conditions around here. There's already an energy crisis in the west and our power is mostly hydroelectric.
I can tell it's almost springtime, though, because the pink cherry trees are blooming and my husband has started to talk about mowing the lawn.

You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are gray.
You'll never know, dear
How much I love you
Please don't take my Xardon away.

Ok, I'll be the oddball here...I don't want winter to go away! Living in Phoenix, I'm not looking forward to another 115 degree summer I like wearing sweatshirts, they're comfy. I like not breaking a sweat just by walking out the front door. Ok, now back to your regularly scheduled dreaming about shaking off the winter blahs

Hi Mouse I do understand about Az. summers, my first time out there was in the summer, they were having a heat wave....but everyone told this Northerner But, it's a dry heat Well the airport was cool, the van was air conditioned but the walk from the airport to the van 114 degrees of Dryheat....still felt like an anvil had been dropped on my chest. The hotel lobby was not airconditioned...too many doors opening and closing I was told...the conference room was either freezing or they would turn off the A/C, evaporator or whatever until we all started sweating and then crank it back up.. My God, I caught the worst cold I'd ever had...I couldn't breath or talk and thought I was going to die it lasted well over 10 days after I got home. So Here's to Winter in Phoenix

I try never to wish any part of my life away but I wouldn't mind it a tad warmer. We started getting the pool ready for swimming yesterday. I plan to be swimming in two weeks even if I have to freeze a few body parts off.(it's Houston this could go either way)
I have most of my planting done and the painting on my easel right now is a huge spring scene. So I guess I am anxious for winter to be done.
