I park my car in my neigboors driveway because he passed away, the house is up for sale, and we thought if we left our car there it would look like someone lives there still. WELL, I look this morning and it's gone. Thought hubby took it to work. WELL, a neighboor called at 2:00 and said they had some papers with my name in there yard. I am thinking how in the world could that happen?
WELL, as I am going to get the papers it hit me, they were in my car. SO, I call hubby at work and ask "Did you take the car today", AND, you guessed it, someone STOLE MY CAR! I just can't believe it! It's a nice working/middle class neighboorhood, lots of older people, usually no trouble. I just CAN'T believe it, oh, I guess I already said that. I mean I just CAN'T believe it...
My only consolation is I was having trouble with it dying and not starting, so I hope it leaves whoever took it stranded in the middle of nowhere! Of course they couldn't take the car that had full coverage, NOOO they take the one with only liability insurance, so I am totally OUT my car. And
I loved my car!
Thanks for letting me vent, cuz I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT!

Well, here's hoping that they get stranded on the interstate way out in the boonies. Or maybe, they could stall in the middle of the busiest intersection in town during rush hour. How about it'll stall in front of a police car. That would be good.
I am sorry you lost your car. I hope there wasn't anything irreplaceable in it.

Actually there was something that I can never replace. In the RL world I deliever meals on wheels to the elderly. One of my people gave a statue they had painted. It was still in my car. I think I am almost more upset about the statue. It as so sweet of her to give it to me. I told her I would take a picture of where I put it in my house and show her. NOW I have to explain that it was stolen.
And funny you mentioned about the police station. My husband IS the police! I kid you not.

lorndav, that's terrible! I'm sorry you got burned doing a kind deed. If you believe in karma then you can bet you'll end up with the long end of the stick and the crook will get his in the end.
Perhaps a teenager stole it for a joy ride? In that kind of situation cars often turn up a few miles away, sometimes damaged, sometimes not. My friend had her car stolen and she got it back a few days later with the license plate frame broken in half and a bunch of grapefruit in the back seat.

Grapefruit? That is too funny! Thanks I needed that. At least the person whole stole her car cared about their health. What do these people think?

Let's hope your car thief is as dumb as the one that took one of my workmates' car. It was stolen from in front of her house. A couple of weeks later she was coming home when she saw a familiar looking car parked down the street from her house. She thought, "Naaaww, impossible!" But stopped anyway to take a look. SURE ENOUGH! It was *her* car!! Turned out that the boyfriend of a teenage girl who lives across the street from my friend stole the car. Maybe he was so clueless that he figured that by parking his stolen car down the street when he visited his girlfriend no one would recognize it as the stolen car. Or maybe he forgot where he stole it from. Or it could just be that this brainless wonder forgot that he'd stolen the car in the first place... In any case one hopes he never manages to breed & pass on his genes. He IS the weakest link!

That one has to go under the Stupid Ciminal heading! I am glad your friend got her car back. It just makes you feel weird. I start thinking now they know my name, from the registration, I don't even remember if I had any other persnal info in there. If I do find out who took it, what if the get mad because they were caught...I feel so sorry for victims of really bad crimes. I mean a car is a car, it can be replaced. But a life or...It just makes me sick that people don't even think of who they could be hurting. I am lucky, I have another car, what if I didn't and had kids to get to school, work to get to...

I had a chevy station wagon with a 4 speed floor shift and it was a total piece of junk but I was young and had my own window washing biz and it was all I had. The stupid thing would get stuck in reverse and 1rst gear at the same time if you did not push the lever all the way to the end when you shifted. I watched someone down in the parking lot jump in and steal it one day but when he backed up he got it jammed. I felt like yelling down wait I will fix it for you but he got out and ran off. I would have been happy with the insurance.
Back in '87 the same deal happened to me. I had a '67 black VW bug that I put Centerline racing rims on. Everytime I was at a stop light I "got the looks". Not from the gals but from the guys...at those wheels. This car looked great and I was going to restore to boot! The problem was the breaking mechanism (master cylinder and all that, lines included) needed replacing. As did the clutch and a few other things. Basically, it was falling apart slowly and hard to drive, but I had ways to compensate and it was "drive as normal" to me. One day I let a buddy drive it and when he came back he jolted out of the car, slammed the door and shouted, "MAN, WHAT'S WITH YOUR BUG! IT'S A DEATH TRAP!!!" He went on to explain the details.
Then one day I came home from shopping (around 5 pm). I got up the next morning to go to work and there was another car parked where my bug was. I started to feel "seasick" as I walked around the apartment complex to see (hope) if I possibly parked it in a different spot than originally thought. Nope! It was lifted. Probably headed for some TJ chop shop down across the border (I live in Chula Vista, CA). The positive of this is I ended up buying a Ford Aerostar van (yeah, and I've heard all the jokes) and have had it ever since 1987. It has over 200K miles on it and still runs like a top! I've used it for everything from moving friends, to hauling sound/recording gear, to sleeping in at Bluegrass Festivals. It's been such a blessing! It was almost as if God had said, "You know, I realize how much you love your little bug, but I also know you will never get it repaired. I'm going to provide you with something better! And He did!
