All these people bashing Bidville. Where were you three years ago when Ebay started up, did you even have a computer or where you even online?? AS I RECALL I WAS ONLINE AND EBAY WAS THE LOCAL FLEA MARKET. Bidville is 6 months old, you must be worried if all you have time for is bash the new guy. Bidville is taking in revenue through premier meberships, and the old saying stay true, "a mouth can tell a thousand souls". You all mentioned Bidville in you complaints, hum, you must have been to the website and see that it does exist. SO NOW WHO SAYS OUR WORD TO MOUTH ADVERTISEMENT DOES NOT WORKING

JMC: It's the nature of Message boards. My time on message boards have been littered by a small minority of people who seem to be here solely to rip things to shreds. You have to just roll with the flow as good work is always rewarded in the end.

That and Bidville kind of sucks. (spoken as someone who has listings up there that never sell.)

With Yahoos death fall and ebay running its site with a greedy hand alot of new sites are poping up hopeing to pickup the sellers that have been push to the side. Some will make it some wont. Some people dont seem to like the fact Bidville has been slowly moving up, their listing keep increasing ever week the site keeps changeing and improveing some sites listings are falling and they dont improve so they are dropping are dead lineing. Have a nice buying/selling day.

Why bash Bidville?

Well...I'd much rather bash ***Bay but we aren't allowed to mention that site anymore. So, somebody else has to be the scapegoat of my inadequacies. Maybe I'll start finding some dirt on megy..degy...pegy....whatever.

What I find interesting is that deriving certain ratios from numbers available at Bidville itself is construed by some as bashing:

Bidville has a 0.2% sell-through rate.

Bidville has a 93% relisting rate.

And that's bashing?

Dimview,
Guess what? So did Yahoo. I know this to be a fact because I had some listings that sit on there forever! That is the nature of the beast (free sites). At least BidVille doesn't get their listing numbers from recipes!

And that is exactly why neither Bidville nor any of the other free auctionsites will ever evolve into competition to eBay.

I prefer true numbers not guessing or numbers put together so something can be posted. Relisting yes I relist on the free sites I dont relist on ebay or yahoo but maby twice why I cant afford it after awhile it cost me more to relist then what I may get in profites. If it was not for the charge to list more items would be relisted over and over on ebay & yahoo. I hope you dont think everthing that is listed on ebay & yahoo sells (do you?). People cant afford to keep relisting with them. It has been fun but not that much fun. Have a nice buying/selling day.

I am happy some people can see into the future Bidville has on the net. All I can say is they look good to me I sell my items their and make some money. I guess I need a ball so I can see the future. Then I could buy and sell more on the stockmarket you must be very rich.

Thanks for the real life example of why Bidville will not be able to compete head-to-head with eBay.

Howdy! jmc, The ole Hillbilly from West Virginia. I am a "Bidville Cheerleader" and it does offend me to see people "Bash" Bidville. But I can't really complain, because I am a "Yahoo & E-Bay" Basher! I can't stand either place. Why? Their Greed! What goes around comes around. That is a part of life. Look at K-Mart, "King" of the discount store, until Walmart blowed their and every other discount chains doors. E-Bay the "King" of the auction sites, until (Probably not Bidville) but rest assured within 4 years. One is lurking around the corner. Yes! Peeking around that auction corner. Thank you, Hillbilly

as I attempted to say in a thread that was RUDELY and WRONGLY deleted, some people are not happy unless they bash. THey spend all their time bashing instead of listing and buying. One site is banned from discussion so now another is attacked. very soon we will start hearing about all kinds of supposed rumors and schemes about the users and owners of Bidville because that is all that some people live for. Very sad.

Reality is not bashing, and the numbers you posted are exactly what I have found to be true on BidVille.

Before Yahoo committed suicide in January our sell through rate on Yahoo was about 80% - we did fantastic on Yahoo - our experience with BidVille has been zilch!

I have nothing against BidVille, I wish it would take off and take over the market, but I just don’t see it –

“In the know” buyers and sellers come to AW (which is a minute amount of the auction using public), but your average buyer doesn’t know AW or BidVille exists and THAT is the problem.

I started with eBay in 1996, and it existed before I signed on, so realize eBay is MUCH older than you seem to think. Ebay originally started under another name, so I believe it is at least 6 or 7 years old.

I have had very little luck with BidVille, yet I have no desire to bash BidVille. That's because it's a very simple matter for me to create an auction listing in my auction software, using either the eBay or BidVille template. If it doesn't sell on eBay, then I can easily switch to the BidVille template without having to re-input the information, just change the category. Then it can sit on BidVille for a month or so, then if it doesn't sell I can let it alone for awhile or move it back to eBay for another try immediately.

Once in awhile something does sell and I consider it a lucky break to not have had to pay another listing fee for that sale. (Not that I'm against listing fees, I pay enough to eBay each month. )

Also, while BidVille might have a mix of sellers and buyers who still keep a significant part of their action at Yahoo and eBay, there are still some people there who have sworn off the paid sites. That means, to me, a unique audience that is well worth trying to tap into.

So, I'm not exactly a BidVille cheerleader, but I'm not going to bash it at this stage of the game yet.
