Bidville: I averaged about 10 sales a month, slow and steady. I didn't mind it being so slow as they were new and it takes time to grow. Then a seller dumped 40,000 3 day listings with 99 relists. That pretty much killed my piddly 100 listings. Haven't sold a thing since July, I'm done there.
Don't like their search or their boards either.
Carnaby: Love the loader, super support, and the boards are friendly and moderated. My sales auctions have done suprisingly well for me, so I'm quietly optimistic for the future. I just opened a fixed price store and am hopeful folks will eventually find it. Although some have found it hard to navigate, I don't have any problems getting around. My dislike is the auction manager, they made improvements this week, but it still lags behind other sites.

Bidville: Faded away, sits idle. I think I have some 99 relist stuff on there or maybe I canned it.
Carnaby: Same here, love it. Started off well till sellers got tired of buying among themselves. Fading away.
SYI: Like them too, no sales
321Gone: Have always liked them I even put some stuff back there again tonight in hopes. I had good sales when it started but faded away.
ePier: Not bad, I have never had a problem, no real sales.
Auction Pioneers: I tried it, I got 1 sale. Have not been back in some time, they still there?
Bargain & Haggle Have had good sales there in August and Sept, been slow in Oct though.
B**B**: Only got started and got real turned off by about everything.
Yahoo!: I know you had it as one of the big 3 but I have been running a couple of items over there on 3 day auctions and selling everyone of them. Been real happy there this past month.
Amazon: Don't do that, I am signed up I think but never turned me on.
eBay: Well I qualify as a power seller now so you can tell how well I am doing there.

BidVille, Carnaby, SellYourItem, ePier and Auctionweiser.
I had quite a few sales on BidVille and found quite a bit of stuff to buy there as well. I didn't do as well on ePier and probably won't bother listing there any more since they like to change their minds a lot and spring new rules and policies on everyone. I'm still reeling over BV's latest announcement about their new 'verification' process. I don't much like it since I only give my CC to a select group.
I have plans to list some auctions on Carnaby in the next while in addition to e-Hem and I may give eHammer a shot and see what happens there. I think I'll throw some stuff up on SYI, too and see how that goes.
For the moment I'm feeling like a nomad, wandering from site to site, just looking for a home, LOL.
Edited to add, I guess I won't be trying e-hammer (sniff) since they closed their doors about a week after my post.

Thanks for asking..
YAHOO:slow but steady sales like the 3 free pics hosting, counters & being able to see if added to a watchlist wish they were fvf only
but need to feature & that gets Pricey~
SELL YOUR ITEM: nice people, kind of slow too bad will keep in mind~haven't tried enough items to tell really
CARNABY:Just tried this site Nice people had a sale in a few days, better hits than i thought i'd get WONDERFUL SUPPORT think they will do well will take a little time~don't mind the fvf when i make the sales
EPIER:Huge disappointment waste of my time, few hits or bids, very stressful site..A shame Nice sellers~how anyone stays there i do not understand it
EHAMMER:My favorite honestly,I wish this site would grow FABULOUS People bidders that become friends,Super support too.Good hits for being so small, lots of advertising & in all search engines, great deals for buyers, but good prices for antiques & collectibles dealers,6 free pics,counters..What do i like? THIS IS AMAZING..UNLIMITED listing FLAT RATE..18.00 a mo + fvf...or 95.00 a mo.Unlimited no list fee & no fvf...now that is Something different. No site can beat that, plus they let you link to your stores & or website...a lot of freedom..more sales than you'd think...wish they'd grow..~
BARGAIN & HAGGLE Have not done well there,Fun but seems time consuming prefer straight auctions..but very nice support
I think we have all tried to get away from the big 3 & have spread out too far,,hurt ourselves..we need to unify..Somewhere..if you all decide let me know LOL thanks good thread..Nomad here too..confusing..really have to watch i don't list a one of a kind item on 5 SITES LOL.. good luck everyone for a great holiday season

Tbayauctions.com - sold one item last year to the owner who also makes up a good percentage of the auctions there. I haven't checked lately, but they did promise a new site and new promotions earlier this year. We'll have to wait and see.
Carnaby.com - listed there under another ID and nothing sold, nice chats, fun contests between users, but not quite there yet. I had the bulkloader but developed some upload problems and decided not to use it after all.
A very promising site though. Great support, some personalized through e-mail.
BargainandHaggle - sold one big ticket item there, did not receive feedback, could never figure out how to leave it either Too much hassle with e-mails offering prices, etc. You have to go back and forth with a buyer or walk away. You start at a price and say that's the least you'll take and they want to haggle down. Too many headaches and way too confusing.
AuctionSaloon.com - a direct spin-off of the site we can't mention here. Same users, most of whom were suspended from another site. Not too much in the way of auctions. Difficult to navigate. You have to register at the auctions, then register at the chats, then register for image hosting, etc. There are times when people's passwords are not sent and they have to request them over again. Registration doesn't seem to be working properly. They have new rules popping up every day regarding their chat boards and one is no censorship, however, they do ban IP numbers without notice. Very similar tactics to the unnamed site. It seems they hired admins and moderators (calling them section leaders) from the other place and with them came the same mentality.
Bidville, have tried them for one or two go-arounds and no sales. Chats are cliquish, but aren't they all? A lot of people there are from other sites.
I've listed on edeal and 321gone in the past when they first opened, but haven't been back since. Registered with epier, but have not listed. Are they gone?
Without bidders and quality merchandise, none of the smaller sites can compete with the big 3. It's a shame because they do try.
Edited for spelling

Have a question about Carnaby. I have heard people rave about it. What is selling their. I just checked a few catagories & could not find any bids. I know it was a quick check, but I scanned through several hundred auctions. Every one glows about their support. I would love to find a site that helps & sells. Thanks.

SpittingCamel: Most of the sales that I have had on Carnaby have been with buy-it-now, though I have sold a number of things through the regular auction format as well. What seems to sell on Carnbay at the moment are nice, low-end items with a low ticket price. Many of the buyers are other beta test sellers looking to build relationships, establish feedback, etc. There is a lot of nice giftware there, too, and I have made some very nice purchases myself that I have been exceptionally pleased with. The buyers and sellers that Carnaby does have at the moment are the cream of the crop!
However, Carnaby doesn't have a lot of buyers right now as the site is virtually unknown to most people. I think all the sellers who are there have come as a result of posts here on AW about the site. They are completing a beta test stage of their bulk loader program at the end of this month and are working on some other facets of the site that users have commented about, so hopefully things will pick up once that is finished.
I have tried all the other sites listed by toollady. I liked ePier the best of all, but not nearly as much as I like Carnaby. Time will tell which of these other sites will prosper as it will be a tough row to hoe for all concerned.

I've tried all the ones listed above with roughly the same results. Doing best at eBay, followed by epier, and it's down hill from there.
Other than these, I'm also trying niche places such as -
ePaganAuctions
AuctionWitch
JustBeads
BidOnBeads
Bookopoly
Half Dot com.
The last two are strictly sales and not auctions however.

I have tried mostly all of them. Bidville and ePier was ok at first. But my sales have been dropping for some time now. I usually only sell on Auctionweiser, B**B**, eBay, eDeal, Haggle, and Lycos.

Bidville - I sell there now and do pretty good.
Auctionsaloon - I listed there never sold anything I agree with the other person about their boards one of the reasons I left. Some of the members are nice people though.
Epier - I signed up then up when the listing fees and down came the boards so I did not wast my time.
Lowestbid - Tryed to list there it kept locking up my computer.
(Unnamed one) - Big joke.
QuicklySell - Some of there members dont like another site and if you were listing at the other site they gave you the cold sholder. So I stoped listing there. I am thinking about trying them again QuicklySell made it clear everone was welcome and will be treated the same. I will see.
Carnaby - I signed up but never listed. I am not much on games show sites caught the cow or billy, looked around the site no listings and looks like very few members. The few member that I seen there were suspended from other sites or left other sites mad.
BooHoo - I left and never looked back when the fees came in, could not believe it 300 items listed lucky to sell 3 in a week and they wanted to be payed for the whole 300 listings FVF only and I would still be there.
Ebay - The site you love to hate. I still list some there with Xmas comeing up I will be listing more. This site wants everthing you make as a seller (Them and PayPal) but give the devel his do they do have bidders.

I've been lurking here, there and everywhere and it looks like there is a building interest in sellyouritem.com.
It is one of the easiest to navigate and list at. There really is no learning curve for ebayers who are looking to make a move, or branch out.
If they don't pull any stupid stunts, they may just be a contender yet.

The people at sellyouritem are very nice,i am also trying Carnaby now a great group there Fabulous support too
Since this new checkout thing is such a mess at the Big place,,i think syi & carnaby both have a very good chance of doing very well.People are really looking for an alternative, maybe they will finally do something, even try them out for a few items.
Think of how they would grow if a good amount of sellers tried it.I think they would be much happier at these sites..
great info in this thread.good luck everyone

That is true, the sites have to a have a clear goal about making money for themselves, otherwise they will NOT last long.
