What will happen first? a 2% sell through rate on Bidville or the Detroit Lions winning a game?
Even better question, of the 1.5% sell through rate, how many are deadbeats? I read somewhere these days that about 10% of bids are deadbeat at Ebay. if that is the case then the 1.5% rate is even more pathetic.

The majority of the items sold on BV are sportcards and a lot of those have unmet reserve prices.
My ebay deadbeat ratio on ebay is only about 1 out of every 50 items sold but any deadbeat ratio greatly depends on what you are selling.
There are still several posts about deadbeats in the BV message center. These posts must be viewed skeptically by any newcomers visiting those boards and thinking of either bidding or selling or both on BV.

Is anyone selling non-sports cards over there, and if so, anyone care to, ahem, "lend" me an ID?

Why not create your own ID? There are still about 1,000 free email services accepted by BV. You can bid on items without being verified and also read the message center's posts.
If BV has blocked your computer IP address go through a free privacy protector service like safeweb.com
As with almost all items, there usually is a larger selection and better prices at ebay, as well as some limited buyers protection as opposed to almost none at BV.

I'll ask for a translation of that post someday Jim. You must be refering to how busy a sportscard seller is these days at BV. With the huge amount of new sportscard listings in the last few weeks I'd have to say those sellers are busy. The others aren't too busy though, other than posting in the message center.

The typical auction sports card dealers who are successful must be a busy lot. I can't see myself packing up and mailing 100 nickle and dime cards every day.
OTOH, I sold one Farscape card for $100.00 US so I guess if you get enough of those, it makes it all worthwhile.
From a collectors POV (i.e. you folks), what would be the average percentage of rare or valuable sports cards listed on Bidville at any one time, and are these ever sold there?
IOW, do the *real* hard card collectors conduct any biz on Bidville, or are they buying and selling on a more professional and well run venue?

I think that most honest BV sellers will tell you that any item that has real potential for fetching a high auction price must be placed on ebay where the traffic is present. The alternative is to place it on BV with a very high reserve or a high buy price or starting price. The semi-valuable sportscards have a chance to go for a good price because Bidville is a sportscard auction ( majority of items sold are sportscards) but regular auction items with high value would not suit the start-at $1-and-let's-see-what-it-brings format.

Is there something wrong with people who live in trailers? I live in a trailer. In fact it's a couple of really, really old trailers that we're remodeling. It may not be pretty but we're not stuck with a huge mortgage, either. In fact we haven't had a house payment at all for absolutely years now. Works for me!

Not at all. Wallypog is a very respected member of the auction community. There are people who live in a trailer and then there is trailer trash. Wallypog who can speak english clearly and intelligently would fall under the first group.

Wally Pog is indeed a respected member of the online auction community. Very intelligent and she stuck out like a sore thumb at BV where every other post written in their message center looks like a fourth grader wrote it. I can see why they got so incredibly jealous of Wally over there.
But it doesn't matter as BV is dying a slow death and the day will soon arrive when Eddy decides enough is enough, time to bury another mistake in the catbox.

From a recent thread where Sketer went off on another cafe rant, I give this example of trailer english. "Oh My goodness! Karula, Andromedea didn`t excuse you of telling stories"
Oh what the heck. excuse, accuse, whats the difference.

I find that woman to be the most disruptive person on BV. She does incredible damage on those message boards and doesn't care what havoc she and her [[[ RAID ]]] can do there. I suppose ToyKing will drop in here now to defend her. Sure she was a big roller derby star in her youth but that's all behind her now. ( might as well start a decent rumor to liven things up a little )

Buzz, you must have been in the every other post camp, the posts that were readable.
I see that BV is yet again changing the verification process that was so poorly thought out. The new change will mean you only need a plus one feedback rating to bid on more than five auctions. That should help the shiller bidders out. This new verification update is too little, too late to help the dying Bidville.
Bidville now has to be operated almost entirely by Bryan the Administrator that has no clue of how to run an auction site. November 20th is fast approaching and the nickel listings for 10 days at Yahoo will look better and better to the sellers that are not in the gang or BV cliques.

Bidsbids,
Where did you find the change on the buyer rating? Just was over looking at the boards and didn't see it or any reference to the change. I like the change. I think the two rating was too restrictive on attracting new buyers.
Now I will admit this is a sarcastic question - Why would you shill bid when the odds are you that you won't get another bid to raise your shill?

Sorry Rob, you're posts were always way to intelligent to be in the fourth grader's column of types of BV posts ( no sled dogs in Houston? }.
Stavescards, Gramy posted in the BidVille Auctions section of the message center about the modification of the feedback rating needed to bid on more than 5 auctions. Bryan must be to busy to post it to the official announcement board yet. Naturally Carol's informative message was totally ignored by the fourth graders.

Thanks for the info Bidsbids. Just didn't scroll down far enough to see it the first time. I assumed this type of post would be toward the top with a ton of responses and didn't bother to look down that far. Maybe the site is starting to listen a little to the average member and not those who are paranoid about a new member.
Who knows about a dog sled in Houston? I imagine that there are a lot of Canadians still in shock from seeing the Stanley Cup in Dallas a couple of years ago.

Sad to see, but the Carnaby forums are starting to head in the same direction with the "coffee is on" type posts. This is too cutesy for me, besides, I prefer my coffee in a liquid state that I can actually see, smell and taste.

Who cares where it was played ... the players are still Canadians. Besides, real hockey players play outside --- something most of us will never see in Dallas

toolladdy, I just saw that This new verification update is too little, too late to help the dying Bidville. part of my earlier post. That is correct usage of the word too though. Too means also and excessive so that should be the correct usage in that sentence.
too (t)
adv.
In addition; also: He's coming along too.
More than enough; excessively: She worries too much.
To a regrettable degree: My error was all too apparent.
Very; extremely; immensely: He's only too willing to be of service.
Informal. Indeed; so: You will too do it!
The message boards on BV have posts that would evoke a primal scream for any English teacher.

holysmokes,
It was the email that AW sends when you check the option for email notification.
Get a grip. Running off another auction site? What in the world are you talking about? If I had that kind of power, then none of the sites that pull BS on the users would be in existence.
Which would mean, the end of the online auction world. One time or another all sites have tripped up and messed up their users.
