Since my last Yahoo auction fizzled, I have had some luck on LYCOS (4 sales),, Bidville (1 sale) Bidbay (0) and Epier (0). As a perting shot from Yahoo I had two sales on the last day of free lisiing.

<B>Seems for me LYCOS is getting all the attention (tho the have a really convuluted way of listing - and so far I cant find a way to completely delete a listing.

</B>Any way, that's been my esperience for the last two weeks.

Well, it has been quite the evening for me. Let's see...Started out posting some new auctions on Epier - absolutely hated their way of hosting pictures and copying URLs, real ugly for me. Then posted one auction successfully at SnapRat and then my computer refused to play with their computer *big frown* - I then posted the rest of the auctions on Bidville, computers and software made kissy face and everything was well with the world. Will see what adventures tomorrow brings when I try Lycos and Bidbay again.

I like Bidville's CS, but was checking my moved auctions from Yahoo and found they had put all my audio books in regular book categories instead of the audio book section *sigh*. I now have to go in and manually change all the categories for these. I guess it is better than having to list them from scratch though (she says, trying to be grateful for small things).

I will give all the alternate sites a try, but so far the easiest and most page views (no bids yet) has been Bidville.

Let's hear some more triumphs and tribulations as we go along this bumpy road together.

I could never get signed on or stayed signed in at Lycos so I gave up shortly. After looking through the hoops to list auctions I wasn't too worried about not being signed in. I don't have that much time to list. I never got any response from customer service.

I have been listing happily at BidVille and making sales. It's very easy to use and customer service is great. Traffic is slow but I am willing to wait for buyers to catch up. I don't think it's much worse than Yahoo and it's a lot newer.

BidBay just didn't work for me.

ePier is okay but slow. I plan to list a few items there.

I have listed a few items on Pootah and made one sale. It's another brand new site with little traffic. Customer service is great.

Within the last month or so my results have been - Lycos (2 sales). Bidville (1 sale) and Epier (9 sales since 1/14/01). Ebay (9 sales since 1/06/01).

I feel Lycos has potential, but the site functions like a bad dream. Bidville is a great site - easy to list and user friendly...but few bids there for me. Epier I like alot. Maybe cause for me at least its the only place where I have done any good...?

I have had 23 items sell on Epier from July 2000 to January 2001.... about one a week. Thanks to Yahoo's boneheaded move, things on epier are getting much better for me.

edited 'cause I really sold 10 (not 9) items on epier since 1/14. Also to add that I have bids two more items now

I've sold 6 items on Bidville and 0 on Bidbay. I've been on both auction sites for about 2 weeks. I had great initial success with Bidvill. I haven't had a bid there for 4-5 days now.

On BIDVILLE approx two weeks. listed 60 auctions, over that period. 2 sold, 6 pending. getting decent number of pageviews on other stuff.
ONE NOTE ON BIDVILLE. If you look at that site, it may look like there is less activity than there actually is. This is due to the "take it" option. I have sold one otem that way, and others have also. When this happens, the auction no longer shows on the lists. so you don't get to se them if you are loooking to see how many items have bids. This site is growin, ....FAST! BTW if you need a link to sign up, just email me...

POOATH is great for CS and really trying to make a great product for a small site. Have had from 6- 12 auctions listed there, few pageviews, no sales. But I intend to keep with this site and watch as it grows. May be a different item or appraoch for my stuff is needed.

Bidbay has stated in it's prospectus to the S.E.C. that it intends to charge listing fees in the future, and there is also a part there that is unclear whether they intend to charge the buyer a fee, or they mean a FVF on top of the listing fee. Also, that rating system for feedback is just too ridiculous.
Not worth investing any time in IMHO.

Lycos, I read another post here about probs signing up and connecting, same here = forget it and move on

Epier, I found to be extremely slow paging. also confusing and hard to find things. It seem their CS does not like answering Email, it seems they would rather you contact them through their chat room. Also had problems with maintaining some images, but that could have been due to Honesty.com. Make up your own mind about that site.

I have checked out a few other sites that I don't even think deserve mentioning.

Sorry, can't type....

My Kudos go to Bidville. Tried Epier. No bids with few views on moderately priced star sports cards. The don't have a mechanism for resizing so my prints received no hits with no bids. Won a bid on SnapRat. Seller closed down site with no notice to me and SnapRat hasn't responded to my inquiry. Can't deal with a site like that. Sold my first 17 or 19 listings on Bidville with the Take It option. Have a bid on another right now. Site has a few glitches however. I have found a couple of dupilcated listings with different item numbers. Has anyone else had this problem?? It's getting harder for me to catch this with over 200 listings I have thus far. I'll deal with the little hassles that come with "new" things right now just to help get the site going. Thanks for the refreshing site at Bidville.

msgodrocks, Where to start. <giggle> I was going to go and look at the site again to remember exactly where I had the problems. And I am not a member or at least my password no longer matches my id. I think that is a problem within itself as I use the same user ID across the auctions. I had trouble logging on there at first. I also was leery of the fact that they had once charged, quit charging and who knows what they would do down the road.

I had also wondered why they have been around for awhile and had not caught on before Yahoo took a dive.

I tried to list an auction there and the process seemed long and complicated. Lots of steps for nothing. I am the mother of 7 and have to list between kids squabbles, care, etc. So I needed something less complicated.

Mainly, it was a gut feeling. I started listing on Yahoo 2 years ago because I liked the "feel". I was satisfied with Yahoo although every once in awhile I had to adjust to their "bumps". But I figured for free I could cope. I went with my "feeling" again this time.

I have listed since the Yahoo started charging on auctionaddict, pootah, bidville, and epier. Took everything off auctioaddict no action for me just got spam. Have gotten bids and sales on bidville. User friendly can directly upload pictured. Pootah is cute but need an image host good news for AW. Epier is slow moving but site is carbon copy seems to ebay
