I was driving south on I-280 the other day, looked in the lane next to me, and there was an old eWanted van.
You remember eWanted. That was the "reverse auction" site touted so highly during the Internet bubble. An idiot friend of mine was itching to buy a lot of it.
So now eWanted is iOffer. You can dress a bad idea up in shorts and a Hawaiian shirt but it's still a bad idea."

I happen to like ioffer, it’s nothing like the old ewanted which I was a member of. I’m curious about you stonecold. What makes you tick? I mean here you are the pro-ebay cheerleader, why do you spend so much time on the other auctions forum. There can only be two explanations as to why you spend so much time here. 1. You’re an ebay employee and this is your job. Which would explain a lot. Why else would someone wave his pompoms around so much. Go ebay Go, yeah ebay!!! 2. you’re a complete loser with nothing else to do. So which one is it? If it is number 2 I apologize in advance.

You have a site called bidville with over a million items and a sell through rate of 0.5%. Anyone who tries to buck ebay will fail guaranteed. Even the former free yahoo auctions failed. Sites come and go daily.

I would agree with you blairwitch. Another auction site will not take ebay down. There is very little reason for a buyer to go to number 2 or for that matter number 1002. That is why I don’t think another auction site will do it. There are other buying sites that are actually growing. One is craigslist, which is a local no-frills classifieds site. It has been growing by leaps and bounds. I happen to do quite bit of buying there, mainly computer equipment. The benefit of this site to a buyer is that it’s local and it seems to be working. I’ve had some success on ioffer on items that I would not be able to find anywhere else. I placed a want ad for a water tank resevoir and power antenna assembly for my car. Within a day I had items listed to me. These sites do have advantages over the auction sites, my bet is that these type of sites will continue to grow. Another auction site provides very little if anything of value to buyers. Sellers will go where buyers are and right now that place is ebay. Nobody should be happy that ebay has a stranglehold on the market except ebay. I for one will not contribute to a monopoly, I think it stifles innovation. Take Microsoft as an example have you seen any major innovation come from them lately. Try using the Opera browser and see all the features it has compared to IE. Although it is an infinitesimal threat it is growing at an alarming rate. Simply put it’s a better browser. Likewise I think any threat to ebay is going to come in the form of a site that provides more features or a competitive advantage and another auction site just isn’t going to do it.

If Froogle is as good as I think it will be Ioffer should do ok.
However they have to get their act together.
I used their Mr. Grabber to pull in my listings and it didnt' pull the prices.
I don't mind getting an email offer. I'll dicker. But no prices lead to retards like the one that emailed asking to get a video for about 5% of its real price.
Froogle is the next big thing. Sites that adapt to it will thrive.

I have a problem with sellers being able to list the same exact items many times. As an example: look at the Home > All Categories > Collectibles > Historical Memorabilia > Fraternal Groups category.
There are 145 listings but one seller has most of these listings ( 108 to be exact ) even though there are only a few different items in this category by this seller. Reporting abuse on the web page only gets an automated email from ioffer and no action.

That's good. It looks like the seller either left ioffer or his items expired and he can relist them later. I figure the ioffer management gave a look at these boards once in a while anyway.
