It seems to be a crafts & hobbies oriented sited and your stats point that out Crafts & Hobbies- 1700/67 as that's were many of the bids are.

One of the major reasons for Bidville being as large as it is deals with the relisting structure there. It is very easy to lauch the auctions on a long automatic relisting run at BV. I do not think any other site has such long listing runs ( plus a 30 day duration per relist option ).

Have they changed the maximum relist at BV lately? What's the longest a seller can auto rebmit an auction these days?

AA, that category is bidville's best. Here are the total bid stats from the last sale.

Antiques & Art- 5 bids
Beans & Plush- 42 bids
Bidville Motors- 0 bids
Books & Movies- 95 bids
Clothing & Baby- 196 bids
Coins & Stamps- 14 bids
Toys & Games- 31 bids
Collectibles- 107 bids
Computers- 5 bids
Crafts & Hobbies- 251 bids
Dolls & Figures- 14 bids
Jewelry & Gems- 81 bids
Mature Audiences- 0 bids
Miscellaneous- 44 bids
Music Stuff- 6 bids
Photo & Electronics- 1 bids
Pottery & Glass- 4 bids
Sports Cards (under $1)- 63 bids
Sports Cards ($1-$5)- 31 bids
Sports Cards (over $1)- 8 bids
Sports Stuff- 3 bids

About the relists, I believe they can go on for months/years. Dimview posted a few auctions a good while back, and they had low item numbers proving they were on auto-relist along time. Another thing to remember about the sale stats is bidville does NOT include relists when they calculate their stats. There were many "early-bird" items that must be added after the sale.

I remember seeing some of the old auctions with the $SSF$ or whatever prefix from old sales. Bryan wisely fixed that by making it so that he could control and end auctions with the sale prefix after the sale closed.

Sell through rate is a bit harder to calculate so we will estimate. The high number of listings reported was 12,401. We will round the number to 12,500. Since there were many "early bird" items and relists we will estimate 1/2 as being relisted during the sale. Here is the estimated STR:

Auctions- 18750
Bids- 987
STR- 5.3% (+ or - 0.5%)

I'd be interested to see the relationship of bids to feedback ratings. The old regulars must be 95% of the bidders. It's like an isolated Amish community, forgotten in time.

No doubt about it AA. With no outside advertising the only buyers are the sellers. Worse than that is the ending prices! Many five and dimers.

One another note living in Pennsylvania we have quite alot of Amish/Mennonites. Like you said they buy off each other, and I guarantee you wont find items "made in China" at their homes! Maybe we could learn from them?

Maybe BV could run banner ads that say " Amish Welcomed Here at BidVille Brother! " or " Menonites Are Might Fine People and Welcomed at BidVille! ". The regulars won't even noticed the new residents of their closed community.

No wait, there are no horse drawn computers yet.

AA, Cuff must be getting old because I have used the PSU photo at the moo for months now lol. If she can cook and clean the amish would be happy to have her. I dont know how far SC is from me, but I have no wish to cross the MD line anytime soon. Those hillbillies in the hills of WV are still fighting the war.

She strikes me as the typical busybody that is found in every neighborhood. The one that calls the cops at the slightest provacation and the one that is never wrong about anything. It's funny that she never noticed the Penn State logo by your name after all these months. It's amazing that Bryan is letting those illegal DVDs go on after all the attention they got and certainly the volumes of email to the BVCS about it. Maybe he's on vacation. I think Bryan knows that if he shuts down the boards there that the place will lose about half of the Amish.

Typical nosy neighbor. Every one has one.....even bidville.

The seller better be careful about the boots with buzzoon around, and I agree the message boards are keeping bidville afloat. Did you see SYI's latest STR? Blew bidville away.

I did very well in the sale. The majority of my bidders were not Bidville sellers. I also continue to get new buyers coming over from Ebay too. Funny, they all complain about the same high prices, and inflated shipping charges, handling fees, etc... at Ebay. It seems that people are searching out alternatives to Ebay.

A little of the "pots calling the kettle black" going on here?

Typical neighborhood bullies. LOL Everybody has them...

CuFF has more class and guts in her little toe than you guys put together.

Why do you come to these little out-of-the-way places to bash her, instead of going straight to the Bidville boards and confronting her? You really love taking your CuFF bashing to places where she isn't allowed to defend herself though.

Oh never mind...we all know the answer to that one. It has something to do with testicles. LOL

The better prices at BV has got to be very isolated cases as there is no listing fee at BV to spur the very low prices seen at ebay. BV and most of the other sites are for sellers that are incapable of the listing fees and incredible low prices found at ebay. Everybody knows that except for a few delusional people at isolated tiny sites.

The semi-success of BV is that most of the sellers there wisely use the site as their store and bring customers from ebay with an occassional auction on ebay. ( just what Yeller said it her post ) The sellers on BV are not dumb, $10 a year for a quasi-web store is a great deal since the auctions require almost zero maintenance and the site probably won't do a "Carnaby" and pulled their tents in the middle of the night and strand the loyal faithful.

I agree with AA. Bidville is a great place to warehouse excess low demand merchandise. Sellers are using bidville as there store, and as proof look at the TOS violations at yahoo auctions. There are hundreds of auctions with bidville in the description.
