I know that the BV listings count can fluctuate quite a bit and has done so in the past. But with the new variable of a new management team and a coming FVF I think that it would be interesting to chronicle the listings number. I can forsee many sellers not paying the $5 semi-annual fee when it comes up. I believe the number peaked at about 1,229,000 or so a week or two ago.

12/23 1,217,680 auctions

I don't see a steady decline. A few days ago the numbers were higher than 1,229,000. Your count won't be truly representative of how things are going at bidville because some Sellers are closing down until after the new year, and others won't get around to relisting until after Christmas simply because they're away from their computers doing other things. You couldn't have picked a worse time, or was that the plan?

Bones, I know there are seasonal fluctuations ( just look at ebay dropping from 14.5 million listings to below 8 million in a couple of weeks ). Of course at BV there is little reason to close down auctions as there is no listing fees like at ebay. ( Sell Your Item Auctions recently announcing that there would be no listing fees in 2004 , just the 5% FVF , was a laugh because nobody but a very small handful of sites could ever hope to charge a listing fee ).

I just want to see if there really is a steady decline in the BV numbers, both now and in the future. There is a regular stream of renewal notices being sent out by BV and many sellers may now choose to not renew due to a number of reasons that were not present before at BV.
Heck, there may even be a surge in listings if BV does advertise in a major way like that they proclaimed a while back when the ownership changed.

Cuff, will all do respect that excuse is laughable. With bids few and far between at bidville NOW is the busiest time of the year. I think more than likely bidville sellers are listing items on other venues with higher sale rates.

Ace, I will be tracking the stats again next month, and will give a monthly report. For now here are the latest alexa stats for bidville. Alot of red.... ;(

"Of course at BV there is little reason to close down auctions as there is no listing fees like at ebay."

There are plenty of reasons depending on how long a seller will be gone. It's very easy to relist at bidville using rapid relist, and closing your auctions is a good way to avoid potential problems that may arise while you're away.

“closing your auctions is a good way to avoid potential problems that may arise while you're away.”

I checked out some of these sellers that pulled their items off BV due to the holidays. The funny thing is they didn’t pull their items off Ebay and other sites they sell at. Fact!!!! LOL

Ebay is so automated that doesn't surprise me. It's that personal touch that makes bidville unique.

Bidville sellers are waiting for the ebay free listing day. I cant blame them a bit with such poor sales at the village.

Even if sales were hopping at "the village" people would be taking advantage of ebays free listing day because it isn't often you get anything free at ebay

It's not really a totally free listing day at ebay. There are still FVF's to be paid and the extra crap added to a listing is still charged ( ex: 10 cents for a 10 day auction. )
Ebay gets all that money PLUS the boost in listing numbers at the end of the year that they can show the shareholders.

Ebay is so dense that they think only a few million listings will occur when that number can easily be 10 to 20 million instead. The bulk loaders will undoubtedly jam up the ebay servers and for 24 hours there will be " Sorry the item can not be displayed " messages all over the site. This has to be the very last FLD at ebay.
There ... nice vent if I must say so myself.

Auctionace is not aucti0nace. The letter o is not the number 0. The fake auctionace can not make a lower case letter o.

It looks like the credit card verification here is failing big time. Maybe Vendio needs to start checking IP address again?

I wonder if scout was the imposter.

... Calling all scouts! ... report in if you're still here.

12/23 1,217,680 auctions
12/28 1,230,702 auctions

up 13,000+ in 5 days ... should makes Bones a happy camper.

damn, he responded ( he's on the ignore feature so I'm saved from his drivel ). Both stonecold and spout are still here. The credit card verification is a total joke.

Vendio may be in dire straits if they have to resort to paid customer support phone lines. The ebay Seller Manager programs may be stiff competition too.

I haven't been over here in awhile and I see nothing has changed.

Ace, do you know how silly it is to keep insisting that you have certain people on ignore when everyone knows different? The whole purpose of the ignore button is to ignore that certain poster yet everytime one of them posts you comment on it instead of ignoring it. DuH!

For years you have been running down Vendio and you keep saying they are in dire straits yet they keep rolling along just fine.

Vendio should eliminate the verification because it doesnt work. Its hard to say how much business the verification is costing them.

Kiara, I took you off my ignore list so I can see your attacks on me. Stone and Spout always ignored though. Someone made a phony Vendio ID and made that aucti0nace ID with a verified credit card and I reported it and Vendio did nothing. I love Vendio!

Of course you also predicted that the FLD would overload and crash the system and be the last one ever.

Its not over yet. I sure hope the site doesnt go down. eBay will ALWAYS have the FLD. What they dont need is bad press(scrooge)during the holidays.

I still predict that that was the last FLD on ebay. For about six primetime hours it was almost impossible to upload auctions manually on ebay during the FLD.
Not a soul believed buyhigh and me that we saw the ebay FLD announcement two months ago.
I posted the announcement three minutes after ebay posted it yet Fluffy started a thread the next morning telling everyone to look at the ebay announcement page about the FLD.
As Rodney Dangerfield says " no respect ".

Now both Kiara and Fenix03 follow me around and post on my threads even over here where not a soul posts.

Ace, it looks like fluffy scooped it and beat you to the punch by almost a minute so you can stop patting yourself on the back.

Awww, you miss me Ace? Quit flattering yourself thinking that I'm following you around and that this is "YOUR" thread. No one OWNS a thread and people are free to post whenever and wherever they wish. I guess I'd be following you everywhere because you post to almost every thread on Vendio!

Awhile ago all I did was ask you about your yearbook sales and you couldn't answer me so you went into a snit. Seems everything I say to you is perceived as an attack. Same with the other posters, if you can't answer them or stand up to them you put them on ignore and go into hiding. Grow up, little boy.

As for the CC verification, don't some people get credit cards in their dog's name?

How do you know Vendio didn't do anything about the aucti0nace ID incident? Maybe they booted Fido or Spot off forever. I know Ralphie would never do that!

I am sure that certain things are dealt with behind the scenes and they don't have to report back to us about it. Other happenings are most likely of little interest to them as it's no big deal in the scheme of things. If I was running Vendio I'd get tired of all the tattlers after a very short time.

I'm not following you either Ace. Might want to take a long hard look at that ego - you just are not that relevent.

I check other threads about other sites because it is good business. I commented because you were so off base. I was also going to comment on your obviously unresearched boasting about being first but Kiara beat me to it.

Another example of poor comprehension skills?
