Yesterday I got a "**** has sent you $XX.XX with PayPal" email. When I checked my account there was no money in it. I emailed paypal several times and got several responses that tried to place the blame on an incorrectly typed email address.
It is my understanding that the "you've got money" email is generated by paypal when someone "beams" you money. If the address that the email is sent to is correct, doesn't it stand to reason that the money was sent to the correct email address?
I still don't have my money, and was wondering if you could look into this.

Hi Kristen,
Is it possible the person who sent you money sent it to an email address that you own but have not registered with PayPal?
If your email address ends with .net, it's also possible that the sender typed .com instead. An ISP will often recognize the address and send you the email, but PayPal will not recognize the address as a registered email.
You may want to ask the sender if their history log shows an "unclaimed" status. If so, they may cancel the payment and send it to the correct address.
If none of these ideas work, please forward the email address you used to sign up for PayPal, along with the sender's email address, and I'll have a customer service representative look into the issue.
Another thing to check for is the .com or .net at the end of the email. If I send email to a person like [email protected] even though his email is really [email protected] the email will go through. If the sender made this mistake the email saying you've got cash will go, but the actual transfer won't because it's not the exact match.
If the sender looks at the history their probably going to see the funds as 'unclaimed' and if they look real close they'll see an error in the email address.

Just wanted to let you know that I have my money. The buyer cancelled the transaction and sent the money again. I still don't know what went wrong. The address looked correct. I have a fairly straightforward email address with a .com at the end, so no .net confusion.
