Would someone please explain to me why I am denied an x.com account when I have a PayPal account and PayPal and x.com have merged? I am rather annoyed by even x.com's sign up sheet -- no P.O. Box's -- well, if you live in the backwoods, and don't have a mail box, and don't trust to have one at an area 2 miles from your home, that's a choice, but to penalize me because of that? Well, and another thing. I don't have any bills in my name -- because my last name happens to be different from my husband's and the utility bill and the mortgage bill don't come in my name. X.com, you need to rethink the way you do business . . .

X.com gives you a regular BANK account when you join, and runs a credit check before giving you an account. You have to have a good credit rating, not just a debt-free status (my college-age son was denied, though he has a credit card and no outstanding debt; he apparently didn't have enough of a credit HISTORY to meet their criteria, a problem you might have if all your credit is in your husband's name).
PayPal will let you join without giving them a credit card number at all (though your credit limit with them will be very limited).
If they won't accept P.O. Boxes as addresses and it's impossible for you to obtain a mailbox at your street address, you might write and tell them your special circumstances. Good luck!

Hi barbaraenglant and antqe,
Although the X.com and PayPal companies have merged, our engineers are still in the process of merging the two systems. Until this is done, the two systems will continue to operate as they do now.
