Well, are there any updates out there about the PayPal debit cards? Last I heard, they were supposed to be available December 1. Any new news?

This is all nonsense. Now it's premier and business accounts only. Now it's a trial basis. Last time I asked this question, I was told December 1, 2000. No mention of Premier/Business accounts only. No mention of "trial basis." What gives. Why do the rules keep changing. I am about ready to give up. I don't know what else to do.

Paypal probably decided it was not a wise business decision. That's my bet.
Many people (myself included) routinely leave $50 in Paypal, even when transferring funds. This "float" is for any buying I might do. However, with an ATM card in hand, that could easily be withdrawn. Paypal makes its money on the float and they probably decided debit cards would not benefit them at all.
Just an opinion, but bets it's close to the truth.

I doubt more and more that debit cards will ever be forthcoming even to premier/business users like me. I upgraded because I figured that when they did appear it would probably be a requirement anyway. I wanted a way to make these so-called "instant payments" a little more instant for me too as the seller.
The funny thing is I think that having a debit card would actually encourage me to keep money in PayPal much longer if I knew I could "charge it" when I needed to tap those funds. As it stands now I initiate an ACH transfer ASAP after I get a payment because of the 3+ day wait to convert it to a usable form. PayPal seems to think that all sellers want to do with their money is bid on auctions, they forget we've got bills to pay too.
