Hi,
I have a question about online payment service. If you accept online payments and I have heard that the buyers can stop the payment when you have shipped the item based on it was not as advertised. Is that true. I have never had this happened to me yet but buyers do argue on certain thing which don't make sense for example we sold a 15" monitor on ebay and after the buyer received it they emailed us saying it is not an 15" monitor. When we called them to resolve it with a spec sheet from manufacturer indicating that it is a 15" monitor, they said it does not look like a 15" monitor. They agreed that the manufacturer says 15" but looks like a small monitor? Even then we told them to just ship it back and we will refund the money. On that the buyer says I have to first refund the money and send them money to ship it back. To that I just said no way that is possible. Monitor works fine and it is 15", I am taking this to just make you happy. Well what happens if this buyer would have said "not as described". DO all these online services have this terms that buyers cna challenge that or should we go back to traditional money orders

The "item not as described" defense is actually used for a chargeback with the credit card company and has nothing to do directly with the online payment service. Yes, it is a valid reason for a credit card dispute....but even in that instance, they have to return the merchandise before the credit card company will initiate the chargeback. The problem is, the online payment services won't dispute the chargeback, they will just accept it and take the money from the seller...leaving the seller high and dry...with no money and no merchandise. The only payment service with any protection to the seller at all is PayPal. Some people here will tell you that PayPal's seller guarantee isn't worth the website it's written on, but it did protect me from a fraudulent transaction.
