Imagine my surprise, when I logged on to my paypal account this evening and received the dreaded "Your account has been restricted". I've read most of the restricted account threads and knew I was in for a nightmare. I tried to think what I had done--I hadn't had any transactions with Belarus or Indonesia. I didn't have any outstanding "where's my item" issues. Paypal has a bank acct, credit card and street address for me. I was dumbfounded. I knew my first step was to email [email protected]. I then emailed Damon. I then planned on calling the 800 number, but I hesitated. I've read all the threads and I just knew what they were going to say "sorry the investigation people aren't at this location, no we can't give out their phone #, please email [email protected]". I just knew I was going to have to SHOW UP at paypal to get this resolved timely (Palo Alto's about an 8 hour drive). About an hour later, I decided to call the 800 number anyway. I was determined to be calm and rational. A polite rep answered the phone and after verifying who I was, she asked the question---"How can I help you?" WHY IS MY ACCOUNT RESTRICTED. I'M AN EBAY POWERSELLER, I HAVE A 2500 FEEDBACK RATING. I'VE BEEN WITH PAYPAL SINCE THE BEGINNING. I'M A BUSINESS CUSTOMER. HOW CAN YOU TREAT ME LIKE THIS? ETC, ETC. After I had finished ranting, the polite rep (more polite than I deserved) told me that her screen didn't show anything warranting a restriction. In fact, she didn't see my account as restricted at all. They had been working on the system and this was probably just a temporary glitch. So I hung up and checked my account and it was fixed. I'm not sure if paypal caught this themselves and fixed it or if it was fixed because of my emails to appeal/damon. But it was fixed. About a half hour later, I received an apology from paypal. They had been doing some upgrades and had "erroneously restricted my account".
Damon- if you read this, you folks at paypal did good. I understand that companies and people aren't perfect and make mistakes. After reading all the threads, I expected at least a one week fight and a trip to Palo Alto. Instead the issue was fixed immediately, professionally and I received an apology. thanks.

Wow, thank you paypal for fixing your mistakes! Please make more of them in the future, I believe you deserve a big hug for them!
