Since Paypal started charging the 2.2% fee on auction use, I have been considering having the purchaser pay this fee if they use Paypal. This would be listed in the description of the item. Any thoughts from other users?

If you're listing on eBay, this is against their rules and will get your auctions shut down if you don't change it. I have no idea what other auction sites' policies are, and Paypal doesn't care, but I think it will make you look bad in the eyes of potential bidders.

You should just consider that part of doing business. If need be increase your min bids by the %. My 2 cents. Don't post it in the auction, it will appear the your are a cheapie.

Its against ebay rules to charge a fee for use of any credit card service dont put nothing in your EOA or listings on this matter.
How ever it is not against ebays rules or anyones rules to use a fixed shipping rate which can be used to cover packageing postage insurance DC and so on to cover some other expences you have with auction sales this way the .30 and % paypal charges wont cut into already small profit margins.
how ever it is against ebay rules to use fixed shipping for fee avoidance so use caution when listing what fixed shipping covers the minimum cost of packing and materals charge enough for insurance and DC for all sales new postage rates the flat priority with insurance and DC will be $5.60 so If you had a fixed shipping on all item 13oz to 32oz of $6.10 you can cover some cost of packageing and time packing you can offer DC on all packages that is really required to protect your self when useing most credit card services and offer Insurance to protect you and buyer on all sales.
For your fixed rate with the new shipping rates you would charge $1.10 for each additional pound of shipping weight.
You will never lose on postage get most your packageing cost back and some money for time spent custom packing pay the paypal fees and ebay fees with your saveings.
Another tip is you will find postage can be lower when you dont use the free priority boxes.
Save larger card board boxes break them down fold them up save them to cut up to make your own flat mailers and custom sized boxes for double boxing Items. news paper most home have makes for better cusion and tighter pack boxes then bubble wrap and shipping peanuts.
As well as fixed shipping learn to hold down over head save $$$ too also if you dont have one already get a postal scale for as little as $1.49 a month you can be printing your own postage and saveing not only time but money also more happy customer when you print postage your self you can ship faster more days per week.
Use Upic to insure your packages .40 to insure item up to $100 value this is a saveing of $1 over the new postal insurance rate.
Become more effective at listing auctions booths with new Items listed daily and that stay at a constant rate sell better if you list 20 to 30 Items a week get your listing up to 20 then every other day list 3 to 5 new Items or relist 3 to 5 unsold item from the past.
Use a bulk listing tool like ampro to make the batches lots of batches of 3 to 5 listing per then just upload a new every other days.
The more time saved listing the more money you make per Item Take and edit pictures in advance make a standard listing for all Auctions write a small descrpition for the Item at the top make up a standard EOA for all auctions so you can just add item price and shipping info to copy and paste to each email you send.
The old adage Time is money is true its better to make $6 or $200 for 10 or 15 mins work per Item them $6 or $200 for one or two hours work per item and the few cents in fees will seem like a small matter.
