I would like to comment on your scheduled maintenance for Friday. Does it ever occur to you that Thursday night thru Sunday are the biggest sale days for online auctions, and therefore, scheduling extended maintenance during that time period is very detrimental to your customers - we the sellers?
Thursday night is one of my biggest nights. On friday morning when my customers get up and want to confirm their wins, AW will be down. I won't be able to access their info nor will they be able to access mine. I'm on the west coast, so it lasts for me until nearly lunchtime. The customers will be complaining and I'll be apologizing and looking very unprofessional.
Why not schedule extended maintenance for Tues or Wed night, the slow nights of the week?

Your brief retort ignored the content of my comment.
Ebay's maintenance is very short. Your's will go on until 11:00 Am here on the east coast. How hard would it be to schedule such on a slow business day?
I can only conclude the inconvenience to your paying customers is not an issue you would choose to consider.

Considering how many hours AW was down I would have to agree with you rpshave...
I tried to log on all day (since 9 am PST) to get some auctions up and it was only a few minutes ago (530 pm PST) that the site was back up for me. So Basically I lost a day of work (as I am sure many AW users did.)
I also had several auctions end this morning with low/no bids due to the photos being down.
AW, what happened? You owe your users an explaination at least.

auctionwatch should give all customers as much free listing time as they have outages. an outage such as ALL day today cost us a lot of business.

Free listing day doesn't mean squat for those of us paying five cents an auction.
So you save a few bucks on 50 items with AW but still have eBay fees too. AW should simply credit each account a set amount to offset the outage.

Hello all,
We apologize for going over schedule on the maintenance window, however, this was a large-scale project and although there were contingency plans in place, we ran into some unexpected problems.
We do feel that the new data center will offer long-term benefits to our customers, and we would like to thank you for your patience and support.
