Global Prefs & Custom Amount FAILURE
Summary: I use Shipping Option 1 and Custom Amount. This setup no longer works for me.
Let me try to explain this as clearly as possible...
IN AM GLOBAL PREFERENCES:
Option 1 amount is clear: USPS First Class. No problem.
Option 2 amount: I don't use it, but now I'm being forced to. See below.
Custom amount: $2.10 USPS First Class INSURED (My description.)
These settings have be in place for about three months.
IN AMPRO:
Tonight I did my first synch since AW systems changed, and then I created a new batch to upload. AMPro rejects all items.
Shipping Option 2 shows a red dollar sign and "thinks" I want to use USPS First Class for Option 2 when I've already used it for Option 1. Then, when I click the dropdown box and select Choose One, AMPRO still won't move the item into the batch. So I tried to just duplicate Option 1 in Option 2. That doesn't work either.
GLOBAL PREFS:
So I dropped the Custom Amount and set my Insurance choice in Global Prefs. Closed AMPro, restarted the software, and resynched. It seems I cannot remove the $2.10 from Custom Amount. And there's nothing I can do in either AMPRO or GLOBAL PREFS to repair my problem. Dead In The Water!!!
Comprende?
After synchronizing tonight, it appears that Auction Manager told AMPro that I _must_ have a Shipping Option 2, but I don't want it and never needed it before. I don't use use Option 2. And I cannot get rid of the Custom option.
Now then, there's a whole other issue with invoices insisting that my Custom Amount be used, and then miscalculating the total. I can't document this, but I've seen it. Basically, the math is wrong. Look into it.
If you are not using Shipping Option 2, please click Preferences in the AMPro left navigation bar and go to the "Shipping Options" tab. Select "Choose one" in the combo and clear the value in the dollar field.

fyi, I ran a few tests on Friday. There's definitely a bug in the system.
If I make a change on the Global Prefs web page, it mungs my settings in AMPro. I can modify settings in AMPro as Radu suggested, and that works. But if I go back to the Global Prefs web page and change something, my settings in AMPro are hosed once again. Applying Radu's solution is always successful. But I can repeat the error and Radu's fix over and over. So....
In short, I think this is all because I don't use Shipping Option #2, but I DO use the Custom shipping option. Apparently, this doesn't jive with the Global Prefs web page and what the AMPro settings expect to retrieve upon resynch.
Suggest your software engineers try to duplicate my experience. Sooner or later, someone else will come along and find this glitch affects them, too.
Just trying to help,
....Mike
PS. Confused? See my first message on this topic. AW has been good to me so far. The least I can do is document a bug.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, there is indeed a slight difference in the way shipping options are set online and in AMPro. We'll look into making this process less prone to confusion.
In the meantime, I would suggest using mostly AMPro for setting your preferences, as they are always synchronized to the AuctionWatch site.
