I have a set of auction batches that have had no problem in the past launching. Now when I go to open batches I have various auctions that have problems relating to the category as invalid or missing. When I go to insert the new category from the pulldowns it tells me that the category is from a different sub-category? even when I insert the CORRECT category number it does not take it but many other auctions are running with this category.Something is wrong and it is not me. I have been doing it this way for some time with no problem. I am using 5.0 and the categories are within tools

I just read that ebay motors changed categories. Is this correct? Would this be causing the problem.

Hello,

What was the original top-category and sub-category these items were placed into?

Unfortunately, that error message may be true. If eBay did in fact move the sub-category you want to list this item into, into a different top-category, they may need to be recreated.

It was tools>hand tools and tools>other tools.

The other items seem to be fine. Also a few times when I hit the browse button next to the category selection in the listing the program closes.

Hello,

43998 is the category number for 'other tools' under the tools heading, which falls under the main category heading of Parts and Accessories. Is that where it was before as well?

The 'hand tools' heading has many subcategory options for it now. If you had been only choosing 'hand tools', there should be an additional drop-arrow to use when you click to browse this items category, so you can choose what type of 'hand tool.'

If you haven't done so already, try simply restarting your machine and closing out of any and all other programs before launching Pro again. That should help with the error where it closed during browse.
Regards,
Christopher

Tried it and no luck.

I reinstalled the software and all appears to be ok.
