Is there a place where I can see the entire list of store categories SMPro uses so I can print your category numbers? That way I will know what I am trying to match up? That would really help. Otherwise, I can't figure out what category is what.

As I said, I have 280+ categories in use and I really need some help with matching these to your numbers. Example I have "country" as a 3rd tier 6 times under 6 different second levels (which don't show on SMPro).

Please help!

you are s-o-l with getting them to come up with a solution. You will have to pretend to list on sales manager then go to where the stores are and make up a list from the menu there. If you back into the cat numbers on sm pro you will see where the list begins. Check as you go along because i think some of the numbers will be place holders for the main parts not shown.
You may also want to have an open window to this form when listing to see if your on track. God know what would happen if you changed anything on the store side. you would be playing Russian roulette.

I know this sound pretty ridiculous, but it is the way with Sales manager pro.

You can not depend on Vendio to come up with something that is a bit more workable as they will just pretend it is not a problem or see a need to increase (oh i forgot, adjust) the fees to fix it..

I am soooo disappointed. I thought they could at least give me a printout of what numbers they are using tied to the actual category.

I guess I won't be able to use them (still )

I had been waiting for the category addition but this makes no sense at all. The numbers they have assigned and the order they have doesn't even match what I have on Ebay. My subs don't appear to even be together with all of the oens under one tier

I can't believe they don't offer something that tells us what we are using. Listing online is way tooooooooooo slow for me. I need to add 100 listings a day.

I'll have to stay with my current program for now and I really hate continuing to put these on one when I need to change to a web based program. Vendio seems to be the only one with an offline listing program.

Vendio...can you at least tell me to go take a hike that you can't or won't help out here? So, I will know (rather than ignoring my posts)?

Hello myfavorites4u,

No worries. I know rpm757 makes it sound like this was our plan all along, and how we specifically had hoped to display these new eBay storefront categories, but that isn't true at all. (unfortunately I think it was more dramatic to leave out the part that its being addressed, something rpm757 did already know.)

What you have right now was just a workaround means of getting the new eBay storefront categories 'available' for use in the current version of the SMPro program, not what we would consider the ideal layout by any means.

There is a new version of the SMPro software that will be designed specifically to display the new eBay storefront categories in a way that is easy to select, with their proper hierarchy.

For the time being, the hierarchy that you see your eBay storefront categories appear in on your eBay site specifics page is how they are listed in the SMPro software (running top to bottom.)

Please note again that what you see now is only a workaround so that users could access them right now, rather than waiting for the new version of the SMPro software to be built to accomodate them properly.

Thank you for your patience in this matter and please let us know if you have any other questions.

Regards,
Christopher

Thank you Christopher. I was hoping I could figure it out so I could make it work for me.

I do have one more question. So, the order is how they would appear on Ebay as I entered them (as opposed to how I am displaying them now)? I have rearranged them so the newer additions fit in with the levels of the main categories and in alphabetical order.

I know that is not how they are appearing on SMPro so still trying to be sure I have it right.

If I go into Ebay and chose to order everything by the Ebay category number (the original order I entered them) then they will match yours? And I can just change the ebay numbers to your numbers?

Thank you again for your help and if I can just figure this out I can work with it for awhile.

Hello,

We will touch base with the engineering team to find out for sure the best way for you to organize your categories and where so you can reference them more easily.

As soon as we have word we will post back to this thread.

Christopher

Dear Christopher,

We all know that it will be light yrs before the new SM pro will be available, all I am asking is that you cut down the lead in (categories#1) to something brief like #1 so we can see our store names there, then we will not need to consult the star charts to figure out what is there.

If you list a 100 different things then you have to guess at what # the item belongs, well it is just a big pain in the...pocketbook.

Christopher,

Any idea how long it will take to hear back? I'm really anxious to start using
Vendio.

myfavorites4u,

There is no way to cross-reference eBay Store categories, either with the list in eBay Site Specifics, or with the list at eBay.

The mapped ID's are fixed in SM Pro, they won't change when other categories are created or removed or renamed. So once you've determined what an ID stands for, that information remains valid as long as that Store category exists.

I am however still checking on a way to get a printout or snapshot of your current category list. When I hear more, so will you.

Christopher

Thank you Christopher. I'm only impatient because I am continuing to add 100 items a day to my other service which means 100 more a day I will have to copy and paste into Vendio

Hello again.

Gee guys. You have to know it is impossible to list if you don't know what category items will go into.

Can't someone help out here? It's been a week now. I wouldn't think telling me what the categories are would be that big a deal. I don't care if I can't see them in your little box on the page, but can't someone either tell me or tell me how to find out what they really stand for?

or did you lose that information yourself when you made them up and dropped the first part?

Hello,

We are still checking into ways to allow users to find the mapping that is done for the categories in SMPro.

Currently there is no workaround, other than to simply view what is listed there now. Unfortunately if you do have more than one subcategory with the same name as in another category, there is no way to see which main category it falls under.
( it wont however change its position in the list regardless of the changes you may make to your list at eBay so you can always count on the first subcategory in your list with that name to hold its position each time you go to select it.)

Regards,
Christopher

Thanks for that information at least.

Guess I'll have to find another alternative listing program for now I really was counting on using Vendio and couldn't imagine any company making a list that didn't show the entire category tree. Or one that doesn't even know what categories are tied to what numbers.

I am very disappointed But, I'll check back in a few months and see if anything has changed. Since I plan on upping my listing numbers from 3000 to 10,000 over the summer i will probably be too far into the process to even consider changing at that point
