Still can't get sales manager pro working on windows vista. I see you give the same answer to everyone and I have done all of the things you say to do, but it still does not work. Is there anyone else with suggestions, or who can walk me through what it really takes to get it to work. Right now windows shuts it down when I go to synchronize. This is at least the 5th time I have tried installing, unistalling, and reinstalling the thing. thanks,Susan

Hello Susan,
Please be very specific about exactly what you have tried. There are quite a few possible solutions. Some work for some people and some work for others. Please let us know specifically what you have tried to solve the problem.

Hello Nathan, I followed the directions found in other answer:Uninstall the program and restart the computer.
When finished, try the following:
1. Download the SMPRO software, opting to save - NOT run from its current location.
2. Create a new folder on your C:\Users\Yourusername directory, it doesnt matter what you call the folder.
3. Run the installer for the SMPRO software. When you get to the part where it asks where you want to install the software to, click browse and install it into this newly created folder in your Users directory.
4. When done installing, uncheck BOTH boxes to view the read me and launch the program.
5. Restart the computer.
5.5 - Right Click the SMPRO icon now on your desktop, then go to the Compatibility tab and check the box to run this program in Windows XP SP2 Mode, then Click OK.
6. Right click the SMPRO icon, and check the box to run this application as an administrator.
7. Launch the software. - When asked, say 'NO' if it asks if you want to download your images and preferences.
8. When the program is done loading, click the Preferences button along the left side of the page. Check the box at the very bottom of this window that says 'Do not download standard images from Vendio image hosting' and save the change.
At this point you should be able to synch without error.
After doing all of these steps to the best of my ability, windows tells me there is an error in the program and it will shut the program down. I also got run time error 70: permission denied when I tried it again. thanks for the help, susan

Hello Nathan, I am curious about installing the Run-Time Files thing, since the download does not meantion that is is for Vista. This is a brand new computer I am using that came with windows vista, so everything I have checked says I have the latest version of everything already in place, but when trying to synchronize windows gives me the error message that sales manager pro is not working.....

Hello Susan,
You can ignore that previous message from Nate, that doesn't appear to apply to your specific setup/needs.
Most users have been able to load the program after a little tweaking to the install process, although the problem with Vista has been that no two machines are alike and the workarounds to get it to synch without error haven't worked for all users.
As a result, there are a few different ways to load it that could work, and there is no rhyme as to why one works for someone and not someone else (not specific to preloaded vista Vs upgraded, nor 32 Vs 64 bit processors.)
We'll start with the directions that have worked for most setups, although it should be noted that any step in this process that isn't followed will result in the program failing, and if we move on to the next possible workaround as a result, we may seemingly never find the right solution for your setup. Please let us know if there are any steps at all in the process that you are unable to complete for any reason so we can work with you.
You have mentioned doing these before, but since this is the one that works on most all Vista setups, let's try it once more before moving to the next step:
Uninstall the program and restart the computer.
6. Right click the SMPRO icon, and check the box to run this application as an administrator.
7. Launch the software. - When asked, say 'NO' if it asks if you want to download your images and preferences.
7.5 - Right click the SMPRO icon and click on 'preferences' - go to the compatibility tab and click to run this program in Win XP SP2 mode.
8. When the program is done loading, click the Preferences button along the left side of the page. Check the box at the very bottom of this window that says 'Do not download standard images from Vendio image hosting' and save the change.

I have also been having issues with SMPro & Vista. I can run the program and upload but it will shut down periodically when I am in the middle of working. I am never able to open it sync and then open any other files. I always have to shut it down and restart it in order to work again. Then if I am writing a listing and go to preview it or save it it shuts down. REALLY FRUSTRATING. Thanks,
Colleen
