Apparently I will have to move to a new listin/hosting service because sales manager pro is not windows 7 compatible. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Sales Manager Pro can run in Windows 7, but it depends on other programs installed and what version of Windows 7 it is unfortunately. It wasn't designed specifically for Vista or 7, but they should be able to run XP programs without issues (although that isn't always simple.)
The first thing to try is compatibility mode. If you right click the Pro icon and go to properties, you can set it to run in Win XP SP2 mode. If this doesn't work try the other compatibility settings as well. Oddly enough Win 98 worked best for a few users, but it seems like every time Windows updates itself the behavior changes.
The best solutions though are dependent on your version of Windows 7. If you have something over the basic Home Premium, it has XP Mode built into it. You can install any software made for XP here and it runs perfectly. Alternatively you can also run Virtual PC, but doing so does require an XP install disc so you can load it from within Windows 7 and run the applications installed there.

Chris. Thanks. Sorry, but your solution is too much gobbledygook and not a professional approach to my needs. I both appreciate and commend Vendio for the years of service. I started way back with Auction Watch and I have launched many thousands of sales through sales manager pro. Recently, I saw a response thread to an earlier inquiry to Vendio where the user was given the same circuitous approach and told that no improvements were going to be made. I tried a few of your suggestions and Manager Pro crashes each time. Please confirm that Vendio will not be upgrading for Windows 7 compatibility.
I will miss the service, but I cannot waste time playing around with compatibility modes and other games. If it is not worth Vendio's time to get engaged and fix it, then, unfortunately, i must share the same view.
Finally, I am so sorry to say goodbye. I liked the layout and the reliability. You have my home phone number if you want to discuss. Regards, Fred

Hello Fred,
I am sorry for the problems this is causing you. Unfortunately, we will not be upgrading the Sales Manager Pro software. If you were unable to get Sales Manager Pro to work correctly on Windows 7 following the instructions that Chris provided, then I would recommend using the online version of our services instead (where the operating system that you are using does not matter).

OK - Thanks, but this is the start of the end of a long and productive relationship. I need a desktop program that is professional and integrated. SMP was just what I needed. I will be phasing away from Vendio over the next month or so. Regrets, Fred

Hello Fred,
We are sorry to hear that, and honestly we do hear where your coming from. Pro is one of the last two (3 if count Garage Sale on Mac) offline based listing programs around anymore and unfortunately their days are limited as is (or we'd continue putting time and money into building them.) With a lot of the changes at eBay of late it's made listing from a truly offline based application impossible. There are already a number of categories that simply aren't supported in the offline tools and it's only a matter of time before the rest see changes that end up moving all software to purely web based solutions.
We of course would prefer if you made your own transition to web based tools with us here at Vendio, so if you have any questions or need any assistance in doing so please let us know. Were always happy to help.

Chris - hello. I have been exploring Vendio to move away from the Sales Manager Pro (SMP) as we discussed. I watched a demo and saw that I need to start my process from a "My Vendio" page. The problem is that in my current view, I cannot find that page. What am I missing? Do I have to switch to another plan? Another program? I am lost. Can you give me some directions on how to get to the Vendio location where i can start listing on-line in lieu of the SMC program. Thanks, Fred
