This is my first post here... an maybe my last, but I had to share this story with you folks.
Last year I thought I might use Ebay to unload some unwanted items. I did a little research and decided PayPal looked like a great way to get paid. So, I signed up. My account with Compubank was confirmed without a hitch. Credit card added without a problem. Well some pressing matters came along and I never attempted to sell anything on Ebay. The PayPal account just sat dormant.
Earlier this year I was notified that Compubank was being absorbed by Netbank and that my account would be transferred unless I chose otherwise. No problem - let it transfer. After the transfer I started thinking again about auctioning. So I logged into my PayPal account and added my Netbank account info and asked that it be confirmed (clicked the button). Days went by and nothing happened - no deposits into Netbank by PayPal, no communications to me. So, I tried it again. Still nothing. So, I used the PayPal site to send a message to Customer Service. Got a standard BS canned reply. So, I sent a message to their "Below Expectations" email address.... a couple of days go by and still no reply. So today I went to the PayPal site and after spending way too much time looking I finally found their Customer Service toll free number (it must be in 2pt. type). I called it, punched my way through the various selections and finally got a human being. I explained the situation to her and she basically told me there was nothing she could do. She said that Netbank "didn't meet their criteria". I asked her what was the "criteria". She said that she didn't know the "criteria", but that Netbank didn't meet it! I then said to her "But it's OK with PayPal to have me as Verified on an account that no longer exits with a bank that no longer exists?". She said yes! I couldn't believe it! I was dumbfounded! Then she asked me very politely if there was anything else she could help me with. I thanked her, but no, there was nothing else - I had all the information I needed. I logged into my PayPal account and cancelled it. And thanked my lucky stars that I never had any money transferred into it.
I've read some real horror stories here. You folks truly have my sympathy. PayPal IS NOT building confidence and loyalty through its byzantine procedures. It's building a big fat bank account on the interest it gets paid on the daily float of the funds it holds on to. I just hate to imagine how many more folks are going to get burned. Good luck to you all.

Considering the millions of customers and the amount of transactions there are really not that many posts here. Of course all you are going to see are negatives because this is where people come if they have a problem that need to be resolved. I have used this service since it began. I have had three issues come up and have called directly to get them resolved. All three problem where handled quickly and professionaly 2 in my favor one was not but I understood the reasons behind it. I am sure I'll get blasted for being positive on here but some people just can't seem to get over things and move on. Overall customer service has improved and the addition of the debit card is a great way to offset your expenses. As with any business everyone won't be completly satisied and as in the real world some people CANT be satisifed no matter what is done or how it's explained. Not talking about anyone specific here of course

Maybe some of those posting complaints here would be more positive if their concerns had been handled quickly and professionaly...
