Some months ago, both my other half and myself held Paypal accounts. Both of us had verified, premier accounts. Worked fine for us, for months and months.

However, Paypal started changing things around, X.com closed up the bank, and we began reading horror stories everywhere. Rather than run the risk of having something go wrong and ending up like some of those we've read about (frozen accounts, charges reversed, etc.) we decided to close our Paypal accounts. HIS closed easily. MINE did not. It wouldn't let me close my account...I wrote to Paypal and asked them to close it for me. They assured me they would take care of it and have it closed.

Weeks later, it wasn't closed. I wrote again..they wrote back to tell me "HOW" to close an account...well DUH! Like I couldn't read!! It wasn't a problem of me not understanding HOW, but rather a problem of Paypal site refusing to let the account be closed. I explained the whole thing again, and once again, was told that my account WOULD be closed, no problem, they would take care of it, etc..

BUT I am still receiving Paypal emails (Announcing this, announcing that - not personal, just announcements that I don't want to receive. I have asked them not to send me any more emails, but they keep on coming. I have written and complained, and asked them to remove me from their email list. Paypal responds back (takes them a very very long time to respond - weeks and weeks!) and tells me HOW to turn off the emails from inside my account...DUH! My account shouldn't exist anymore - it was supposed to have been closed long ago by Paypal person. I saved the emails telling me they would close it for me...How can I turn off their emails from inside my account, if I don't HAVE an account! I can't log into an account I don't have, and by golly, Paypal itself told me that my account most definitely WOULD be closed, long ago.

These Paypal emails are now, in my opinion, spam. I do not want Paypal emails. I do not want to be spammed. How in tarnation can I get Paypal to quit sending me emails? Is there somewhere I can complain to? I have saved all of the emails from Paypal and all that I have written to them, including the ones where Paypal stated they would close the account (several times!) Is there somewhere I can take these emails and show them how Paypal keeps on and on, so that they could make Paypal stop?

At this point, I am seriously considering switching ISPS so that the email address Paypal is sending emails to me at will become nonexistent, and they can have all of their emails bounced back to them as undeliverable.

But I shouldn't HAVE to change ISPs to get rid of what I consider to be spam, should I?
Why can't Paypal just get its act together and actually DO what they say they'll do?

It's aggravating as can be that Paypal hasn't done what Paypal said it would do.

Hi,

I am sorry to hear of your issues and you are more than welcome to contact me at [email protected]. I will have the matter looked at Monday morning (when I get in) and I will (hopefully) be able to have the matter resolved quickly.

As a side note, after reading your comments, I did want to address a couple of items:

1. Account restrictions, in fact, are extremely rare (and have been for some time), and require a clear violation of our terms of use. These matters are generally cleared up quickly and it usually depends on the user providing some documentation or information on the matter. Questionable transactions or claims are placed in a "pending reversal" status---documentation is all that is needed to place the funds back or reverse.

2. Transactions are reversed if there has been a charge back placed. Users can protect themselves from charge backs through our Seller Protection Program.Charge backs are a risk (with any service) when accepting credit card payments and charge backs are a guaranteed right granted to cardholders (they generally occur because the cardholder has been defrauded or did not receive the merchandise). However, our Seller Protection Program does eliminate this liability if the user follows several small steps.

I just wanted to make sure that I was clearing up any misinformation you have received about the service and that your reasons for closing the account(s) were based on factual information.

My email address is [email protected] and all I need is the account email address. I may need some identification to close the account and I will provide that information to you (if needed).

Thank you for your patience.
