I just created a storefont, and I am wondering how much success people have had with fixed priced items on their storefront? I have literally thousands of items that are questionable as to weather or not they will sell on ebay or not. So I thought I would give them a try on my storefront rather than pay $0.30 for each listing and possibly waste alot of money in the process. I am just curious about the amount of traffic that is driven to our storefronts. Is it worth my time to list all of these items there? Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Hoffy,
It's been 12 days and no responses to your question, so I thought I'd respond for you. Wonder why nobody gives information about their results. Perhaps they're not doing well with it, either. I've had mine for several months now, and have sold 1 item from it. At the bottom of every eBay listing, I give instructions to click on MY GALLERY, then to click on SHOP, hoping that will help. Last week I sent emails to 25 previous customers asking them to check out My Storefront, but haven't had any results there yet.
I have mentioned to AW twice that the MY GALLERY icon is a misnomer, since they call it MY STOREFRONT now, but I haven't seen any movement toward changing that. It should be simple.
I think people are confused between this and the eBay STOREFRONTS. I don't know. Something needs to be done to get this off the ground. The concept is good, but the traffic isn't. CAN ANYONE ELSE RESPOND TO THIS???

Hi there: I dont know for sure but would guess that if AW listed a "storefront" Link- ebay would see it as direct competition with their ebay stores; and pull the offending auctions - Ill bet calling it a Gallery was some sort of compromise. Ive sold items from my "Buy it now listings" on the gallery page but I just think most people tire of wading thru all those gallery pages unless its something their really crazy about finding .(Lazer printer cartridges at half price or Antique Samurai swords), Your listings cant hurt and you sure cant beat the price for now- its an extra chance to sell.
Best of luck !

ANYBODY HAVING STOREFRONT SUCCESS???
Since they are considering charging for that next, I wonder if it's working for anyone. If so, can you give us some tips, please?

I'll be brave enough to tell the truth. I opened my AW storefront on April 23, 2001 and finally sold a $5 item from the store front on September 25, 2001. I found out when I logged into AW to check on some things and there it was in the ended section. I tell ya, I nearly fainted! I'd given up on selling anything through the storefront and was just using it mostly as a gallery for people to view stuff I have on auction. Other stuff was in there just as a place to display them in between trying to auction them. I certainly would not pay for the storefront as I probably would have run up more than $5 in fees during that 5 month duration. Not worth paying for. I'm not holding my breath for another sale because I'll likely be waiting another 5 months. For the people who have 2000+ items in their storefront and make it to the front page of the storefront directory, I'd like to know how they do with their storefront and whether being on the front page helps increase traffic/sales.

Hoffy,
Ebay warned me against directing traffic to my gallery. You can have the link at the bottom but cannot tell people to go there. Be careful.

I have been wondering myself why there are so few sales on my storefront.
From about 80 items listed I get about 4 sales, here is what I do not understand that eBay bidders bid in competition to each other and end up paying as much as $ 10.00 more for an item, while they could log on to the storefront, which is advertised at the same page and buy the item direct for the listing start price.
Oh, well .. I just keep on wondering.

Just read the reply's. Found a lot of great info I was wondering about myself. I had no idea of how to tell if anyone purchased anything or not, and AW has no help for this. I also have had no luck with my storefront. Anyone know if there's a way to see how many people actually visit the storefront? I quess so long as we don't have to pay to hold item's there, it's not too bad. At least it's another chance to sell an item or two. Best wishes, and goooooood luck.

Hi; I also had a Storefront for four or so months but had no luck with it and could not keep up with all the deleteing of closed items. I am wondering if there is a way to just post ONLY Dutch Auctions? Probably not. I just posted this very same Question and hope someone knows a way to do this. Any ideas?
Thank you all.

Here's a big reason why AW storefront activity is so low: Search engines can't find them. AW would help us a lot by having one of those "submit your storefront to 50 search engines" features you see so many places. I have been selling from a homemade storefront at geocities for 3 years. It wasn't until I submitted my site to many search engines that I got traffic and sales. Of course, you can always do the submissions yourself; you don't have to wait for AW.
The bottom line on selling on the web is, "If you build it (your site), they won't necessarily come." It takes much thought and time and work to build traffic. I speak from personal experience.
One more thought: Many sites have storefronts now, even Paypal. I am certain that none of them generate much business.
