Add me to the list requesting the Store Search Engine be repaired to return searches of three letters.
I type in WAR and nothing comes up. I have 84 War related vintage ads and none of them came up.
WAR is obviously on a lot of people's minds at the moment - why someone would search WAR is beyond me, but if they did - it would appear that I don't have anything for them.
Other things like TWA, car, bus,etc... yield the same results... nothing. And I HAVE these items in my store inventory!
Please tell me this is getting attention.
Thanks!

The Store Search tab allows for searches with three letters or more -- it is the actual search field in your store that doesn't. I will add you to the list.

Thanks Sonya. Well... that's the search field I was referring to.
Once (if) you get a person to your store and instruct them they can search for items in the search field... it should work. But it doesn't. It should work with just ONE letter in the field. But it doesn't.
It doesn't work with apostrophes, phrases in quotes, multiple words or hyphens either.
I am placing SKU numbers in my item description text now that have hyphens. Such as 1944-0014 and if I enter that it only "keys" on the 1944 part even though the WHOLE string is in the item text. So, instead of jumping to one item, it brings up all of them... which, I guess is better than bringing up none of them.
The Search field results are erroneous and basically can CAUSE a seller to miss a potential sale.
Hopefully this will be addressed quickly.
Thanks Sonya,
Greg

I hope Big City means you are too much in a pos way. I have been harping about the exact inadequacies you brought up for over a year. I have a woman that collects Bon Ami ads. Cant find them. Also, someone comes in looking for Ford automobile also gets Ford planes. Its a mess. I spent a lot of time putting in keywords only to discover that once they are in the store, it only searches titles. Appreciate your bugging them as I get tired of being the only one. LOL

Who knows? I just figure these items need addressed now ahead of time BEFORE it becomes an issue for my customers. That's a proactive stance - not a "whining" stance.
I guess AW doesn't realize that what directly affects our sales also directly affects AW's income.

Just a revisit to inform that my inventory item list continues to grow with items that are dependent on 3-letter words or less for a customer to use an enhanced Store search.
AMC, GMC, ABC, CBS, NBC, Air, gem, gym, war, gun, dog, ski, sky, CI, eye, etc. the possible list goes on.
I understand from a different thread there are forthcoming enhancements to the Stores. Will this be enhanced?
The problem seems to lie in the RESULT that is returned from a 3-letter or less search:
"We were unable to find exact matches for your search:"
What if you instruct the "search" function to find words "containing" the 3 or less searches? At least SOMETHING would come up if it is there.
Please advise if this is being addressed or instruct me how I can place my own search engine on the store.
Thank you,
Greg

Found an additional issue in the Store Front Search routine:
SEARCH #1: Type in the following: General Electric
RESULT #1: Everything with the word General OR the word Electric comes up.
SEARCH #2: Type in the following surrounded by quotes as shown: "General Electric"
RESULT #2: EXACT same as Result #1
------------------
While I am pleased that at least results are returned - it does little to narrow a person's search. To my knowledge someone wishing to search for General Electric items knows that General Electric does NOT make GENERAL Tires, ELECTRIC Typewriters, GENERAL Dynamics, or who made the first ELECTRIC watch.
PPPPLLLEEEAAASSEEE ... fix this search function or answer my questions.
Examples will continue.
Anyone else seeing this issue? Or is it just my store's search that's screwed up?

Greg: I have been asking for this for a year. Search engine in the store needs work for all the reasons you mentioned. Key words would be nice, not just title. This does not seem like a very big job for a programmer, but what do I know. Have a good one.

I may have found a solution for this issue, but since I'm convinced this thread is being ignored, I will post it under a new subject.
We have logged your suggestion to revampt the search tool built directly into the individual store itself.
Thank you for the feedback on this issue. Unfortunately, we do not have a time frame available as to when the next update to the stores in general would be, or if this would be included in that update or not.
