Checkout Page Item Quantity LIMIT is Still Broke.
Why does checkout allow customer's to enter more than the quantity that is available?
I find this REALLY misleading - There's no way I can allow a backorder on a one-of-a-kind item!!
What complexes this mystery further is the extremely RIGID inventory adjustments that are in the Store when setting up an item! If there is 0 in quantity available there's NO WAY you are going to add ANY quantity to the store or auction. Period.
Please consider applying this same rigid inventory rule to the Checkout Page.

I addressed this issue in another thread. When a buyer goes to confirm the order, if the quantity is higher than what you have put available in your store for purchase, they'll get a message back saying they can't purchase the item at that quantity. When they click the 'Back' button on that page they go right back to the first checkout page, where the quantity can be edited.

Thanks Sonya,
That's not a very "pretty" screen that comes up to inform the customer. A blank white screen with the following message:
==========================
Errors during checkout:
Listing ID Title Reason Available qty.
558749315 1938 HAMMOND ORGAN - Questions Answered This item is no longer available in the requested quantity 1
==================================
These are not "Errors" during checkout. Why lie to the customer?
I cannot subscribe to telling the customer two straight-forward lies in this false error message.
Lie #1 - Errors in checkout
Lie #2 - This item is no longer available in the requested quantity 1.
========================
SUGGESTION:
Change "Errors in Checkout" to "Available Quantity Exceeded"
Change wording in Lie #2 to read: "Available Quantity For This Item Is"
Since this page INFORMS the customer of what the actual available quantity is, make it clear to them.
========================
Of course the best fix would be to put the Available Quantity next to the Quantity Requested so the customer sees it immediately and possibly makes an impulsive increase on purchase for the items that have a quantity of more than one.
Thanks,
Greg

ADDED THOUGHT:
Since the exceeded quantity available page comes up showing ERROR, my first impulse as a customer may be to just say "forget it" and close the window altogether instead of going through the hassle of trying to update the info.
I didn't create a test item, I just used one of my existing items and pressed confirm order and got the error message.
If I would have adjusted my quantity and pressed Confirm Order again, does it retain the buyer's name and address info or do they have to enter it a second time? Hopefully it retains the information.
Thanks,
Greg

I will forward all of your suggestions to Product Development.
If the quantity has to be readjusted, the information already entered by the customer (name, address, etc) will be retained. When they correct the quantity it takes them back to the confirm order page.
