I know we have discussed this but thought I would bring it up again. My shoppers (and when I get them I want to keep them) are confused about payment. This is a message from Steve:
*****************************
I'd like to pay for this item by PayPal, but when I checked out and the order was confirmed it did not send me to the PayPal website to pay youi. Please advise. Thanks.

Steve
*******************************

Of course, I emailed him and got the payment straightened out but would like any suggestions on how to communicate at the "confirm purchase" level so as not to lose a customer. THANKS!!

Hello,

If the customer confirmed the order they should have seen the link above the order telling them to go to PayPal to pay for the item. He has to click on the link in order to get there -- it sounds like he didn't confirm the order. I checked both your store purchases in your account and neither of them was bought by a customer named Steve. Did he actually finish the transaction?

You can edit your checkout text in the Post Sale Management Options section to instruct buyers to please complete the checkout in full.

Regards,

Sonya

607961318 is the number and I have already archived him because I mailed his item this morning (he did pay with paypal after I emailed him the info). Never said my customers were bright!
I will try to change the wording of the Checkout Text. Thanks.

I've had three custiomers with the same problem. They don't see the link to Paypal, it says that their order is confimed and they don't click on the link.

I then have to go to paypal and send them a bill. is there a way to make the link moer noticeable, some people just don't read.

I see the link at the end of checkout fine, but of course I know it is there. The customers don't and some are not very bright. Maybe it would help to put a large PayPal button there in place of the typed link. Something they can't miss.

Seems the logical solution here is if the valued customer has ALREADY selected PayPal as their payment venue, and has ALREADY clicked the confirm button to confirm the order then the software should automatically send them to PayPal without having to "read" about it or click on the PayPal link.

Think about it - it's a confirmed order why bother with the PayPal link that is confusing the customer? Just drop in the code that when a customer selects PayPal and Confirms the order....BANG... a redirect sends them to the needed URL "without" the customer having to click this unneeded extra link.

RESULT: Speed-To-Pay, Zero Confusion and Happy Customers (and sellers!).

That solution is a no-brainer. Patch a redirect on confirmation - same as if they "read" it and clicked it...but without all the confusion and hassle.

Granted, there will still be those who choose to pay with PayPal that don't even have a PayPal account... oh well, that's another issue altogether.

"If you build it, they will come... if they know about it."

That does sound like a good idea, but there are problems with it also. I have customers who choose PayPal when they are going to send a money order and don't have a clue what PayPal is.

I had one yesterday who argued with me all day long that she had already paid with her credit card. Didn't print a receipt, didn't get a confirmation e-mail, couldn't tell me much of anything. But she definitely paid. She argued with her credit card company all day today. Guess what? She paid me tonight with PayPal. Like I said some customers are not that bright. Some are just plain stupid. If you send them directly to PayPal, some may wig out.

That's true... but I feel sending them to PayPal automatically will benefit those who DO have a clue. For those that you describe that don't have a clue there's really nothing you can do for them anyway.

So why confuse the masses that do have a clue? I say don't... send a redirect to PayPal (as they expect) and get the matter done.

When I was actually making sales in my store, I've had people click the confirm button and claim that by clicking that button alone they paid me. Now how stupid do they think I am?

Some people are just dangerous with a mouse.

I like the automatic idea, if they get there and don't know what paypal is, tehn they will at least send you an email asking what is going on. I had one customer very angry, he continued to isist that because my checkout said order was confirmed that he had paid for it. After two weeks hefinally checked with his bank and then paid me.
I have another one, that I am still working on. Auction ended last week and she insists she paid. I really like using the checkout, but I'm beginning to think it is just easier to let paypal send them the winning bidder notification.

Here is one from yesterday:

"I used PayPal t pay for the ads, so I do not understand why the payment did not go through immediately."

Turns out he thought he was using Paypal during checkout. He thought all info was magically being transmitted to Paypal. Unfortunately for him, one of the items he was trying to buy was scooped up by someone else when his order was returned to inventory.

Greg is correct. There should be a redirect to PayPal, an email confirmation wouldn't be bad either in case they are not paying immediately.

Also the Sales Tax calculator is ineffective, causes many problems.
