Is there a problem with the search function? I did a search from my store home page on the name "Maddux" and the results contained several items that are not supposed to be "visible"

Hello,

Are there any items in particular that you have currently set to 'not visible in store' that are showing up in your store - that we can use to test with?

Chris

I tried to go in and do a search "Maddux" but I get an error Error code: 12535744564 so I assume that you guys are trying something...

The last time I did the search on Maddux I got 4 pages of results. The first item "400 Maddux cards" is legit. The other items that showed on the results screen probably should not have been there. I saw several items called TOPPS TRADED SETS. These are items that I have(Or had) on ebay.

When the search is working again I will be more specific.

Hello Charlie,

The search appears to be working fine currently. When I checked your storefront initially, just now, it was setup to only work at your Vendio domain and not also your own domain name. I switched this back (I think it was correct this morning when I checked initially) and did the search for maddux and see the items your referring to.

"TOPPS TRADED SET LOT 1987 1988 1989 1990 1991 MADDUX RC"

There are 3 items in your inventory currently with a quantity available for the above title:
First item

Second item

Third item

Each of these items had multiple ads (variations) that were set to be visible in the storefront. This could have been set this way during an import off of eBay. I used the Find and Replace in your account to set these items to not visible in your storefront.

If you have any others showing in your store that you do not believe are setup to be there, locate the item/s in your items page and click the little plus sign to the left of the title to see all/any variations of that currently saved. It is possible when you view the original ad and see that it isn't setup to be in your store, that a variation (an additional ad from that item) is still setup that way.
You can use the Find and Replace to quickly mark all of those as not visible if you find others.

Chris

Chris,

Please look at the next item that shows on the search for Maddux. The results of the search will show "4 1988 1989 Donruss....
When I review the item in my inventory it is marked as NOT visible on store. Yet it shows on the search results.

Also, it looks like the search is on the entire description. Not just the title. Is there a way to control this?

Charlie

Sorry to be a pain but could you check the third item as well

The third item returned on the search for "maddux" is "6 UPPER DECK BASEBALL...... I see 6 lines of the same item being returned by the search function

When I searched my inventory items I find two occurrences. They are both marked NOT visible.

Chris,
This is wierd. When I checked the items in my inventory they are marked not visible. Plus as I go thru my store the items are not showing. As far as I can tell they only appear in results of a search.

There are too many items for me to delete manually. When I create my listing for my vendio store I try always move the items into a category. SO could I just delete all of my unfiled items and solve the problem that way? I have 20 pages of unfiled items so I may have to do the delete 20 times.

What do you think?

Hello,

Since the problem seems to be with the duplicate Ads, I don't think that deleting the Unfiled items will help, unfortunately. This is because the inventory item might be filed, and one copy of the Ad might be correct, but the duplicate Ad that should not be showing would be attached to that same inventory item (which is filed).

However, I am also not currently able to locate the items that you previously mentioned by either searching your Store, or by browsing through your Store items. Are you still having trouble with this? It is possible that you removed the items, but there was a delay before the changes appeared in your Store.

Regards,
Nathan

Hi Nathan,

None of these items shows in the store. I don't think they ever did.

I don't know if this helps or not but if you were to do a search and find the same item Duplicated 5 or 6 times in the result of the search... Then go look for the items by searching my items inventory, I would only find 1 or 2 occurrances, not the 5 or 6 duplicates that my home page search returned.
And when I edit the item(s) they are marked as not visible on the store.

IS it possible that the code for the home page search is checking the "number of items in inventory" and then missing the fact that the item is not supposed to be visible.

These items are all from my ebay import. The item description still has all of the ebay wordings and templates that I remove when making items available on my vendio store. When I make the wording changes, I am supposed to save the items into a folder. That's why I think I can delete all the unfiled items. They are my ebay items and I don't want to show them on my vendio store(Unless I update them).

I managed to work around the problem using the Find/Replace as chris has suggested. I selected all of my unfiled items and did the find/replace on all 484 of them and it fixed the problem with the items showing up in the "search" from my home page.

I do think that there is a bug in the system.

These items never displayed in my store. If you browsed thru all of the categories in my store you would never find them. Plus, if you edited the items individually they were marked as NOT VISIBLE.

These are the same items that were showing as results in the search. They still had the original ebay wordings and attributes.

The only way to fix them was with the find/replace/

Hello,

Thank you for the update. I'm really sorry, but I haven't yet been able to see the problem where the item will appear in the search results for your Store, but not when actually browsing the Store for the item. Should this happen again, please let us know the name of one of the items where this is happening, and we will look into this further.

Regards,
Nathan

I have some new items to import from ebay. Once done I will check and if the problem persists I will let you know.

Sorry that I fixed the other items before you could see the problem first hand. I had a customer who complained and I wanted to have it fixed.
