Does Vendio plan in the future to offer a simple merchant account as an alternative or addition to PayPal as a payment option? Homestead (Intuit) offers all the merchant account / gateway stuff for a flat monthly fee. It's quick and easy. I would like to be able to accept credit cards in my Vendio store. Right now the only way to do that is to make the customer sign up for a PayPal account (which some don't want to do), or to get my own merchant account ... the little bit of research I've done has me so befuddled that I really don't want to try to find the right merchant account & payment gateway myself.
Unfortunately, I am not aware of any plans for Vendio to offer/create our own merchant services for credit card payments. The two merchant accounts that are currently supported in your Vendio account are PayPal's Payflow Pro and Authorize.net.

So is PayPal's Payflow Pro a way that my Vendio customers can pay directly by credit card if they don't have a PayPal account? Is there any extra charge for Payflow Pro? What are the transaction fees?
That is correct that PayPal Payflow Pro would allow your buyers to pay via credit card if they do not have a PayPal account. There are no Vendio charges for this service, however you would need to open a PayPal Payflow Pro account and pay them fees for the account that you would have with them. Please contact them for the specifics of how much they charge.
