I am not in the habit of watching and/or keeping track of how many auctions a site currently has running - I don't even know if Yahoo posts such, DO THEY? If so, has there been any dramatic drop in the amount of auctions posted?

I know eBay and some of the other auctions post this on their opening page, but I just briefly looked at Yahoo's front page and didn't see any such number.

It would be interesting to see how many auctions have been canceled, or allowed to run out in the last few days.

Seems to me that peak will be tonight.

From here they drop and drop and drop and of course in 25-30 days the count will plumnet as the last free listings that did not sell close.

Frankly - I think that nearly NO ONE is going to pay to list Yahoo (with real money) so what remains listed 30 days from now will be whatever people with credits put up.
If Yahoo is lucky 25% of what they have now, and of course as credit run out, well...

So maybe they pull a free listing day, but by then, who cares?

VeryModern

BUT is there a place on Yahoo where they actually show how many auctions are presently listed, as eBay and other auction do?

No that I know of.
Some of us are tracking by a fave search.

No such numbers are reported by Yahoo!Auctions. I posted numbers for a single category last week ... postcards ... which had fallen to some 14,000 listings after the Yahoo!Chats, but now has just over 15,000 listings.

Thanks Dimview - I saw your other category post and I think we are asking the same questions, or should I say seeking the same information.

Dimview, I saw your request for folks to watch given categories, and I'd like to volunteer, but there aren't hours enough in the day now to keep up with our posts, and web site, at the same time.

I agree with VeryModern, that totals will probably go up through today, and then we will probably see listings start to drop, but perhaps not for a while if most list today for 10 days with 2 relists, that would keep the totals up for almost a month.

Will be interesting to watch.

Thanks. I'm thinking that it would be reasonable to get the category total something like every other week. No need to micro-manage here since we want the big picture.

Dimview, I'll go over and see if the couple of categories we post heavily in have numbers and such and see if it looks like we could keep up with a few with you. "I Shall Return!"
