I keep hearing how certain people feel that all that is being done on this board is people are wanting a free ride. I don't think that's the case at all. I would be willing to pay for service. I would be more than happy to pay for service. It's the way of the economic system. However, in two years I have NEVER seen Yahoo offer service. They have offered A service and I learned how to make THAT service work for me. But not once did they fix a problem; tell me how to fix a problem or in any other way offer more than cut and paste of already posted rules. Which I had already read 100 times trying to figure it out for myself. Until a few months ago I don't think that they cared what the auction division was doing. Then all of a sudden they need QUICK CASH and some one remembers there is an auction division and "wow, look what the sellers have built". Lets get more than our share. I have had Yahoo as a home page for quite a while AND I NEVER SAW THE AUCTIONS ADVERTISED the way the EMail, Games, etc were advertised. Not once in a year. It's a little word in a long list and the only reason it's at the front is it starts with "A". And all of a sudden we have people who have no clue telling us how to run our business and that they are going to be charging us for this "service?". Why the sudden interest in something they have ignored for at least 2 years?

A free ride I am not looking for, a reasonable solution I am. And I think that is how the majority of the people on this board feel. I spent 2 years building up clientelle, working with a listing site that wasn't always easy to use, adapting to the changes that we made (sometimes overnight), dealing with unreasonable buyers, working hard and banging my head against this desk more than a few times. They have changed the rules again and I can't adjust anymore.

For a long time, I had been advocating that people not think of Yahoo as a "free" site. For some time, I have featured all of my auctions. I used up all my credits long ago and have paid Yahoo over $100 per month for a while now. But that's only a fraction of what I pay Ebay. And though these listings generated far fewer sales, the percentage of sales that I paid in fees was still far less than on Ebay.

So I have never even thought of Yahoo as a free ride. I look at it in terms of the fees charged as a percentage of sales generated. Even if I am able to maintain my sales volume (which I doubt) the percentage that I am paying in fees will now be FAR higher than the percentage I pay on Ebay.

If that is the case, why would I continue to sell on Yahoo?

For me, it's not about grudges, or what's fair, or even what's right. I really don't care. If I am able to sell on Yahoo profitably, I will. If not, I'm gone.

I agree. If you get good service, it's worth paying for. My big complaint is that when I started there 2 years ago or so, I never had a "scammer" place a false bid. Then a year ago, I noticed that upwards of 20% of my closings were from scammers.

Finally, last October, I was going through the roughly 30 or 35% of the scammed closings, and found someone with a NEGATIVE 73!

When I complained to Yahoo, they told me to mind my own business. They weren't going to bump anyone, or take any actions, against anyone for any reasons. And if they did decide to, it wouldn't have been my business anyway, despite the fact that it was my items.

I had been slowly moving everything to other sites since. I only wish I received the e-mail before the 5th, so I would have been able to finish a little easier. I mean, FIVE DAYS NOTICE!
