Curiously I was going through the privacy statements for BIDVILLE and was refered to ENGAGE privacy statements!

With little research I find that there World wide services have none apparently based in the USA!

When I here mention of even requesting my SSN by Pacific Rim and European countries it sends a flag up to me! Even with the opt outs mentioned!

Then I read on and see they are affiliated with CMGI who many of us know partnered with AW's prefered payment and FREE LISTING DAY service in December!

"EXCHANGE PATH" which our friends here at Auction Watch bowed out of that fiasco rather tactfully!

The BIDVILLE format and being FREE looks very enticing, but I am afraid before I jump on that train, I will wait until the caboose gets closer!

One Terrible Experience (EXCHANGE PATH) and one somewhat frustrating experience (Yahoo Auctions) in the past four months is enough for me at present!

I will stay a couple cars in front of the caboose on Yahoo for now and see what happens and hope the E-Bay Engine keeps chugging?

Just sort of bothers me when I see everyone jumping on the same train many of us just got off?

Maybe they learned by past mistakes?

Hi, I've having great results on BidVille, OK good, but better than Yahoo!!. No one asked me for a SSN or a CREDIT CARD, like YAHOO! did. So whats your point??? Did I miss something along the line?

Hey Warr,
Since trains don't use a caboose anymore, how will you know when to jump on??
Peace and Goodwill!!

Bidville never asked for SSN or Credit Card...All I needed was email address to sign up.......

Yahoo has been derailed...Ebay's Round-Trip tickets are too expensive...I am at Bidville station ready to board...

I usually read the TOS and privacy statements prior to signing up for most of Internet services! Although you have to be a Philadelphia Lawyer to understand them and that I am not!

They would like it to make services better to you! It is optional at present!

Taken from their privacy statement!

Registration
In order to use this website, a user must first complete the registration form. During registration a user is required to give their contact information (such as name and email address). This information is used to contact the user about the services on our site for which they have expressed interest. It is optional for the user to provide demographic information (such as income level and gender), and unique identifiers (such as social security number), but encouraged so we can provide a more personalized experience on our site.

I also wonder what will happen if AW would start charging?

Where is everyone going to voice their views then? Or is everyone going to say they said they were always going to be FREE as has been stated about many other services on these very threads!

As per the following from AW Q & A?

How much does it cost?

With the exception of AuctionWatch.com's Appraisal Service, which is $19.95, our services are free of charge. This includes the use of our Post Sale Management and Customer Management tools. At some time in the future, AuctionWatch.com may charge for these services and will notify our customers of these changes.Click here to learn more.

No cabooses but they still have lights at the end!

My age is showing! I can remember when the locomotive on the Annapee & Western was still a Steam Locomotive!

I am always looking and hope all goes well for Bidville and all who are there and only time and $$$ will tell!
