I have a clickable email link in all my auctions because I wanted to make it as easy as possible for them to ask me questions.

For some reason nobody ever uses my link. They prefer to send the questions to me through Yahoo's ASK SELLER A QUESTION. OK, maybe people don't want me to have their email addy. I can understand that, but sometimes I am amazed at what they will ask in a public forum like that!

I just received a question from someone who wants to know how much I will sell the item for and will I close the auction and sell to him.

If this person were to bid the opening bid, he could end up winning it for that. I was hoping for at least $25 ABOVE opening bid, but this round isn't doing too well!

What should I do? I don't feel like stating give me $XXXX and I'll close the auction!!! Especially in that VERY PUBLIC FORUM.

Why wouldn't he email me directly IF he expects me to cut him a side deal?????

How would you answer his question, since my answer will be viewable to anyone who checks out "Questions Asked"?

What would you do????

Sorry this is so long!

edited because it was realllllly long!

Never mind....

I just answered I don't have set prices, I prefer to let the bidders set that but I did check the option that allows me to close the auction early.

Have a good evening...it's waaaay past my bedtime. I'll be cranky in the AM if I don't get my "beauty rest"!

Hi Sulyn. I've been frustrated by that one myself, so I sympathize. I've been asked the same question (in the same exact way) when my auction had a buy price on it! Sometimes I wonder about those yahoos! LOL!

Perhaps bidders don't realize your stated email address is clickable. They might think they have to write it down with the auction # then go to their email & type it in so it's much easier to click ask seller a ?

Can you change your HTML to
"To ask me a question CLICK HERE" and have your email link off that?

Kassmoon-Thanks for the suggestion. I was beginning to wonder that myself. I was thinking about something like, use the clickable link to send me an email, but thought that a bit too wordy. Your suggestion is perfect! I'm going to go do some "editing" right now!
