On ebay, I have a 50-75% sell rate with more than one bid on enough items to cover the final value fee. On Yahoo, I had about a 10% sell though rate and lots of deadbeats. I can't understand any advantage to listing on Yahoo over Ebay.

I think Yahoo's site is far superior to ebay's as far as features provided.
I love shopping on Yahoo, where you can easily browse by photos due to the free gallery. (ebay's gallery is pretty close to worthless since hardly any sellers pay to be in it.) Plus Yahoo hosts your pics for free.
I also like that you can go back and update feedback after the fact, say, if a customer's check bounces or whatever. It takes a lot of the pressure off.
I also LOVE the longer titles you are able to give your items.
Plus, you don't have to go crazy worrying about scheduling your auctions, you can post them at 3:00 am if you feel like it because you can choose the time when they will end, unlike Ebay's way of doing it...
not to mention that the fees ARE lower if you if you turn your stuff over quickly...
plus Yahoo's way of doing the buy price is far superior to ebay's in my opinion...
lots of things to love about yahooif you ask me.
but unfortunately as you have noted, the traffic issue is pretty crucial. I am still selling on yahoo but have to admit that yahoo's traffic is not like Ebay's.

Not everyone has merchandise that sells 75% the first listing on eBay.....in fact, the average sell-through on eBay is 20-40% (seasonally), and low profit margins can **very quickly** be eaten up by listing and final value fees there.
Yahoo is generally NOT the place to sell rare or one-of-a-kind items UNLESS the seller knows the full value something should bring and prices it accordingly, because there are almost never any "bidding wars" (unless at a very low-dollar level).
Before Yahoo's fees, it was a good place to list new, or common, or known-value items, because a buyer would eventually come along and pay a fair price, which the seller got to keep in full, without stiff selling fees.

For me, it's a combination of reasons. The funny money ( of which I have LOTS) is one main factor. Add to the fact, that the main items I'm selling at Yahoo right now, I've always had a higher sell through there. In fact. Even on free listing days, I seldom get many sales of this type item on Ebay. I'm just clearing out the stock I have though, since I can't quite decide if it's worth the amount of fees, I'd have to endure once the funny money is gone. I actually got 2 bids on Bidville *L* And it seems, it's the same person who bid on 5 of my items at yahoo.
Only 245 more of these babies to go before I'm done. *L*

I agree with what the others have said. I like Yahoo much better than Ebay (before Yahoo fees.) I think it's much easier and faster to use. I also use the gallery a lot when I buying.

Hello,
I sell on both sites. No complaint about either. (not to say I did not talk against Yahoo when they did their fees because I did) Yahoo is far cheaper than e-bay. I also love the way Yahoo is set up. To list, bid and load pictures. Like I said, I do great on both sites. Not trying to say one is better then the other. There are certain items I don`t get bids on yahoo, so I sell them on e-bay. And other way around. I would in no way count Yahoo out of the auction world. Have a great day,

Sometimes the competition for a particular item is fiercer on eBay (e.g. 10-15 sellers listing the exact same item) whereas no one is selling the item on Yahoo.
I have noticed that some collectors from E-bay are back over here looking and bidding again!
I recognize their Id's and I have not seen them around Yahoo for well over a year!
Several of these folks used to tell me they did not like Yahoo because they had to look at the same thing day after day and page after page of items that appeared the same!
This I believe was largely due to the folks using Yahoo as classifieds by running two day auctions with auto relists! I know some of the same adds ran in my main category for over a year and never sold!
Not mine because I did not list very often since I had to put my start price to high and did better with bids on E-Bay!
My sell through has actually been better with the few items I have listed, since the fees started!
I still have over $500 in credits and as long as my items keep selling I will keep Yahooing!
